Date

Kate Clifford

A mother and father who were trapped in their car following a horrific crash on the Sunshine Coast told their children to climb out of the wreckage and wait for help to arrive.

Their car was then hit by a truck, leaving the parents fighting for their lives.

The couple have been named as Tammy Boyce and Nathan Boorer, of Ipswich.

Ms Boyce, 28, is believed to be 28 weeks pregnant. She is still in a critical condition in the intensive care unit at Nambour Hospital, while Mr Boorer was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane Hospital late yesterday.

Police believed the initial accident happened when a Subaru, which was reported to have been driven on the wrong side of the Bruce Hwy, slammed into the Ipswich family's vehicle head-on about 10.30pm on Wednesday.
