Woman allegedly raped by man from dating site Plenty of Fish

A Queensland woman was allegedly raped by a man she met on a dating website after telling him she just wanted to be friends.

Police say the 25-year-old woman was raped by a 33-year-old Indian national three times at the man's home in Brisbane's south on Monday.

The pair allegedly met on the website Plenty of Fish.

The man, who can't be named for legal reasons, appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with three counts of rape.

He was granted bail but ordered to surrender his passport and report daily to police.

The woman allegedly told police that after meeting the separated factory worker online, she repeatedly indicated she was only seeking friendship.

He initially stopped texting her but later got back in contact and invited her to his home, according to police documents tendered in court on Wednesday.

The man, a father of one who gained permanent residency in 2011, allegedly made unwanted advances as the pair lay on a mattress - which was among the only furniture in his home - eating pizza and watching TV.

The woman says she reluctantly agreed to kiss him but when she refused his further advances he pinned her down and raped her three times.

The man drove her home and later allegedly apologised over the phone in conversations which were recorded by the woman.

Defence lawyer Nathan Hounsell said the charges would be contested using the defence of consent.

"(The accused) denies the complainant saying 'no' before any sexual activity," Mr Hounsell told the court.

The man is due to return to court on February 22.
