All the pre-season hype about the Raiders centred around the recruitment of Gold Coast Titans halfback Aidan Sezer. He didn't disappoint in his club debut, scoring two tries and displaying his outstanding kicking game. Sezer had to step up after Austin limped from the field early in the second half. He responded with an impressive individual try to get the Raiders back on level terms at 22-all. Raiders captain Jarrod Croker then kicked two penalty goals and Shaun Fensom crashed over in the 80th minute to seal the victory.
