Josh Papalii escapes charge after Nigel Plum head clash

The Canberra Raiders have received a major boost before Saturday's tough road trip to Townsville with Josh Papalii escaping any charge after being placed on report in Sunday's win over Penrith.

The Queensland Origin player was placed on report for an alleged shoulder charge on Nigel Plum, who was knocked out in the second half incident and didn't return after leaving the field.

Josh Papalii on report after knocking out Nigel Plum

Canberra Raiders forward Josh Papalii is put on report while off the field after knocking out Penrith Panthers prop Nigel Plum.

Despite several replays showing a head clash caused the blow, Penrith was awarded a penalty.

Raiders captain Croker approached the referees to protest the decision, saying it was "very unlucky".

The Raiders need all hands on deck against the surging Cowboys, who have won 13 of their past 14 games.

Papalii has been in strong form the past two months, which was rewarded with an Origin recall in Queensland's big win in the series decider.

He had another busy game against Penrith with 114 metres and 26 tackles.
