Papalii scan gives Raiders some good injury news

The Canberra Raiders have received some overdue positive news on the injury front, with second rower Josh Papalii cleared of a fractured forearm.

It was initially feared the 20-year-old would be sidelined for up to six weeks, but scans yesterday revealed only minor nerve damage.

The Raiders are optimistic Papalii, one of the side’s most consistent performers this year, will be available for their next match against Souths at ANZ Stadium on Friday, May 25.

Papalii left the field during the second half of Canberra’s 40-34 win over Parramatta on Sunday complaining of a sharp pain through his right forearm.

With their season at the crossroads at 4-6, the news is a welcome boost for the Raiders who are already without key players Brett White and Terry Campese for the rest of the season with serious knee injuries.

Papalii will use the Raiders’ bye week to undergo physio and medical treatment in an effort to be available for the match against the in-form Rabbitohs.
