Penrith star Lachlan Coote will miss the rest of the NRL season after being scheduled for surgery on a pectoral injury suffered in Sunday's loss to Wests Tigers.
Coote left the field clutching his right shoulder after an attempted tackle on Tigers fullback Tim Moltzen after just 11 minutes.
Panthers general manager Phil Gould confirmed on Monday the Panthers five-eighth will not play again this year.
"Terrible luck for PenrithPanthers. 5/8 Lachlan Coote will undergo immediate surgery & miss rest of season. Jeremy Latimore out 12 weeks," Gould wrote on his Twitter account.
Latimore missed the clash with the Tigers due to an ankle syndesmosis injury.
Panthers junior Blake Austin is a likely replacement for Coote in the Panthers halves alongside halfback Luke Walsh.
Penrith host South Sydney in round three of the NRL this Sunday.
