Less than a fortnight after he was photographed drinking alcohol with axed fullback Josh Dugan, Ferguson was recalled to the Raiders for Sunday night's 30-17 win over the St George-Illawarra Dragons at Canberra Stadium.

A remorseful Ferguson requested a meeting with the Raiders' senior leadership group last Wednesday which led to his reinstatement, on the condition the 23-year-old abstains from alcohol.

"That is the six-week plan where I'm not drinking alcohol, I think it's early May where I'm allowed to have a beer and that's going to be measured,'' Ferguson said.

''The boys have said these next six weeks are going to be a real turning point for me.''

The leadership group met with coach David Furner the following day, who agreed to the request of his senior players.

The NSW Origin emerging squad member and Country representative admitted he needed to address his attitude off the field.

Ferguson was handed a one-game ban last year for arriving at training under the influence of alcohol.

He then allegedly spat on patrons at the Foreshore music festival in November, and walked out of an emerging Origin camp in the middle of the night in January.

"It's been well-publicised I've been in a little bit of trouble throughout my career,'' Ferguson said.

''I think it's time I really need to stand up and put everything into action.

"The boys showed faith in me during the week … and I told them I really want to earn the trust back within the group.''

Raiders co-captain David Shillington said it was a straight-forward decision to allow Ferguson back into the squad, once he agreed to falling into line with the club's culture away from football.

''He explained to us he was remorseful for his actions and he's going to make a commitment to stay off the drink for a while and commit to the team, train hard and rip in on the field,'' Shillington said. ''That's all we needed to hear. I don't know about last chance, but obviously he's had a fair few indiscretions.

"We're happy for him to put it together on the field and stay out of the newspapers off the field.''

Ferguson rubbished rumours he was unhappy at the Raiders.
