The Raiders will be on high alert for another destructive performance from Eels giant Semi Radradra in Saturday's encounter at Parramatta Stadium.
Radradra has been at his dynamic best for the Eels this season and the Fijian is in line to make his Kangaroos debut in the mid-season Test against New Zealand at Hunter Stadium.
He has formed a dangerous combination with NSW representative Michael Jennings, who will line up opposite Raiders centre Joey Leilua.
Rapana knows he will have to be on his game to keep Radradra from doing what he does best.
"I love a challenge, he's obviously a quality player and he knows how to find the try line, so the big focus for me this week is going to be my defence," Rapana said.
"Especially with Jennings next to him, me and Joey have a big job this week.
"Defensively if we can hold those two out, I think it will play a big part in the final result."
Leilua was outstanding in Monday night's 22-8 upset of the Canterbury Bulldogs at Belmore in his first game back after serving a two-game suspension.
The former Newcastle Knights three-quarter was strong in defence, working in sync with Rapana to contain the dangerous Bulldogs duo of Josh Morris and Curtis Rona.
"Last week we focused a lot on our defence together because we were up against Josh Morris and Curtis Rona, who are two big attacking threats," Rapana said.
"We did a lot of video review on them and tried to keep the ball away from them as much as possible.
"Luckily for us, we were able to keep them try-less and they didn't do too much, so it'll be a very similar game plan for me and Joey up against Jennings and Radradra."
Radradra scored two tries when he took on Rapana in the round 26 clash last year when the Raiders won 28-24 in golden point extra time.
"Every time I got to tackle him one on one, I made my tackles," Rapana said.
"It's more of a mental preparation for me and obviously he's a big fella.
"If we defend from the inside he doesn't get a chance to get the ball, but I'm confident I'll do a good job."
Rapana has played every game for the Raiders this season.
He spent six years out of the NRL, which included a two-year stint in 2009 to complete a Mormon mission.
But Rapana said he wouldn't be following Bulldogs fullback Will Hopoate in not playing Sunday games.
"That wouldn't be happening for me," Rapana said.
"That's [Hopoate's] choice, if his faith is that strong that he wants to do that, then so be it."
