Friends and family of Josh Dugan have taken to social media to show their support for the troubled Raiders star.

Dugan's partner Amanda Palmer, who is due to give birth to the couple's son in July, has been posting heartfelt messages to the besieged fullback since he was suspended on Tuesday for drinking while injured.

''ill [sic] support you through everything you do. forget the backstabbers there's a reason there [sic] behind you. Your [sic] great at what you do. Ever since I met you, I [sic] seen some amazing changes your [sic] amazing with my daughter and we have a son on the way,'' Palmer posted on her Instagram account before deleting the note shortly after.

She also posted inspirational messages to Dugan in the early hours of Wednesday morning, claiming she couldn't sleep due to the active baby. Throughout her pregnancy, the 23-year-old has been publicising images of her growing bump and the happy family enjoying time together.

An overjoyed Dugan announced to Fairfax Media earlier this year that he was looking forward to joining the Raiders' Dad's Club. ''I'm pretty excited about it and I'm looking forward to the change in lifestyle,'' he said. ''One of my best mates just had a newborn in December. I've been talking to him a little bit, and had the odd chat with Furnsey [Raiders coach David Furner].

''Being the first child I don't think I'd ever miss it, even for a game. I think it will be motivation for me this year.''

      • Shame she didn't remind him of how the finances would've helped their new child's future!

        • Surely there's a window of opportunity for the Raiders and Duges to rebuild broken bridges. Maybe this needs to be a 2-way street, and i don't know the personal circumstances, nor do i want to. To sack a father-to-be (a mere few months before the expected birth date) is not very humane or compassionate in my book! How about some compromise (without the *com*) => i.e. *promise*. promise (and to receive promise from) your teammates thru thick and apologise/and to accept apology, forgive and forget....*to move forward*...That's what gels a team...
