Video referees Steve Clark and Paul Simpkins, the pair responsible for wrongly awarding Manly a try against the Cowboys last Friday night, have been dropped.

Clark and Simpkins have paid the price for incorrectly ruling Kieran Foran didn't touch the ball that led to a Michael Oldfield try in the semi final at Allianz Stadium, and have been replaced by Chris Ward and Bernard Sutton for Saturday night's preliminary final between South Sydney and Canterbury.

The only other match official to be dropped was touch judge Jeff Younis, who missed a strip from Ashley Graham on Jorge Taufua, which led to a Cowboys try.

Matt Cecchin and Tony Archer will control the Melbourne-Manly game, with Russell Smith and Sean Hampstead retaining their positions as video referees.
