Canterbury Bulldogs v Sydney Roosters

Show comments

That was a fairly crazy affair at times. There will be some fallout. There were a couple of ordinary tackles, a stink, the Klemmer "goose step" incident and the NRL's concussion rules will be questioned again.

But the Roosters get 2 much-needed points.

That's all from here.

SYDNEY ROOSTERS 32 (A Minichiello 2 S Williams 2 S Kenny-Dowall N MacDonald tries J Maloney 4 goals) bt BULLDOGS 12 (M Brown 2 tries K Inu 2 goals) at ANZ Stadium. Referee: Ashley Klein, Adam Gee. Crowd: 19,088.

Roosters 32 Bulldogs 12. The score flatters the Roosters a bit, but they did what they needed to do.

Into the final minute. Roosters 32 Bulldogs 12

And here's another moment of madness. Klemmer has raised his leg in a tackle by Warea-Hergreaves (no idea what he was thinking) and he's on report.

71st min: The Roosters are running away with this now. Minichiello scores after some scrappy play following a spilt bomb. It's ruled no try on the field, but it looks OK - and the video ref agrees. Maloney converts.

67th min: From the restart, and with the Bulldogs down a man, the Roosters score through SBW. He simply muscles his way through 4 defenders. Maloney converts.

And now this game's officially had it all. The Roosters kick a 40-20 and as they try for a quick restart (under the new rules introduced this year) Tim Lafai knocks the ball away and is sent to the sin bin for 10 mins.

64th min: SBW to SKD and it's a try to the Roosters. A (very) short ball (slight question mark on it) to Kenny-Dowall and he strolls over. Maloney converts.

Pearce and Maloney need to take control of this and get their side home. Neither has done a lot tonight.

The official crowd is just over 19,000. Slightly disappointing, but plenty of big names out obviously.

18 mins to go and it's Roosters 14 Bulldogs 12.

57th min: Try to the Bulldogs, and they're well and truly back in this one. Tuivasa-Sheck has failed to cover a grubber kick (he's had a bit of a shocker in fact) and Mitch Brown collects the crumbs to score. Inu hits the post with the conversion.

Roosters 14 Bulldogs 12

The Bulldogs are getting a great run with the penalties tonight, it's 10-4 in their favour and they're on the attack. It's not over by a long stretch here.

Back to the game: the Roosters are building some pressure after a few Bulldogs mistakes. It's still 10-8 Roosters, but they're on the attack.

It appears that because Perrett did not leave the field immediately after the high tackle but has not returned for the second half it counts as a replacement and is not a free interchange. Questions will be asked about the Bulldogs handling of it though.
