Fulltime. Eels 32 Sharks 12 ... The Parramatta side is still in the hunt for the finals and unfortunately for Cronulla, they're still in the mix for the wooden spoon after today's game.

Parra deserved the win but the scoreline probably flatters them a little. Cronulla are trying hard as their season from hell winds down but they are putting out a patched-up line-up at the moment.

Great debuts from wingers Bureta Faraimo (two tries for Parra) and Valentine Holmes (probably Cronulla's best player)

That's all from today's blog, check out the match report at LeagueHQ

77 mins: Sandow has nailed the conversion Eels 32 Sharks 12

TRY Bureta Faraimo gets his second on debut. Will Hopoate takes a tap and catches Cronulla's defence out with a quick switch to the blind side. Eels 30 Sharks 12 KTC

74 mins: Eels attack the Sharks goal line but cough up the ball.

TRY Jarryd Hayne puts any Cronulla comeback talk to rest with a try against the run of play, running nearly the length of the field after Andrew Fifita spilled the pill. Sharks winger Jacob Gagan nearly caught him close to the line but Hayne collapses over the line to make it 26-12 and game to Parra with 9 minutes to go

Sharks have had a couple of matches in recent weeks where they've come back fro 20-plus deficits. They're down by 8 with 10 to go and on the attack, with plenty of momentum

TRY Great work again from debutant Valentine Holmes to finish off a break down the left flank and send the pass inside for Jeff Robson to score under the posts Eels 20 Sharks 12

64 mins: Nice let-off (if there is such a thing) for the Sharks as Parra spill the ball close to the line

64 mins: Cronulla defence just holding on as Eels attack again, looking for knockout blow

Hayne Plane in holding pattern: Jarryd gets over the line but defence doesn't let him get it down

TRY confirmed. Rookie scores on debut. Didn't look to be much of an obstruction. Eels 20 Sharks 6 after Sandow fails to add the extras

TRY possibly to debutant Bureta Faraimo, video ref checking obstruction.

57 mins: Eels on the attack deep in Cronulla territory.

This just in from avid blog reader, Herman: "The @%&#@%& refs are kidding themselves" More news as it comes to hand

Poor old Chris Sandow would have scored just then but the grubber bounced too high, way out of his reach. It went as high as five and a half feet in the air! Way too high for little Chris, even with his arms up high.

49 mins: Nu Brown (son of Old Man Brown) drops the last pass from Jeff Robson with the try line beckoning.

On report: Parra's Junior Paulo on report for taking out Michael Gordon as he collected a bomb. Looked dangerous. Could miss a week or two.

Oops, correction: Eels 16 Sharks 6

There's not only one David Gower: Parra forward Craig Gower at Remondis Stadium.

TRY Parra forward Peni Terepo blitzes throught the Sharks defence up the middle and sidesteps Michael Gordon to score under the posts. Eels 16 Sharks 4

Sharks veteran back-rower Anthony Tupou won't be returning in the second half after suffering a hamstring injury.

44 mins: Eels denied a try due to a forward pass. Correct call from the refs!

43 mins: Pauli Pauli would have to be one of the best young forwards running around in the NRL. A name to remember (not hard to do so) over the next few years.

Here's the view of our reporter at the game, Michael Carayannis.

Hayne put on a masterclass in the opening 10 minutes to stun the home side. The Sharks eventually regrouped on the back of go-forward from Andrew Fifita.

The Eels looked to score off every play. A bit of patience and they should run away with this game. Parramatta will have a strong breeze behind them in the second half.

Halftime: A half of two quarters. Parra dominated the first 20 minutes with Jarryd Hayne running rampant, scoring the first try and setting up the second.

Cronulla then gained the momentum and with a bit of luck, could have scored another try or two, with speedy winger Valentine Holmes making an eye-catching debut.

Perhaps not. Valentine Holmes go close to scoring his first try. Jeff Robson makes a break, spins a long pass wide but it bounces in front of the unmarked Holmes flying to the line but he can't catch the ball off the tricky bounce.

37 mins: Chris Sandow makes a break but his pass to support was intercepted by rookie Holmes. It certainly is Valentine's day so far.

Not quite right: Time to write that right centre Jonathan Wright was wrong when he tried to reach out to score close to the line, fumbling the ball

34 mins: Sharks attack the line with a well-weighted (finally) grubber and Hayne bats it dead

Why aren't the Sharks trying a 40-20 kick or two early in the tackle count with this strong breeze at their back?

GOAL Michael Gordon makes no mistake with the conversion. Eels 10 Sharks 6 after 31 mins

TRY. Nu Brown crosses one play after Valentine Holmes made a break down the left edge, beating half-a-dozen would-be defenders. Andrew Fifita steps in at first receiver to put Brown over. Eels 10 Sharks 4 KTC

Samoa have leapfrogged PNG on the RLIF rankings to 7th, Fiji is 5th and Greece have moved up two spots to 26th after beating Malta recently.

    — Brad Walter (@BradWalterSMH) August 1, 2014

27 mins: No-look pass from Michael Gordon too far in front of Valentine Holmes, Sharks attacking raid comes to nothing.

Penalty: Junior Paulo pinged for holding down in the tackle. Sharks get a boost upfield.

25 mins: Sharks have kicked the ball over the dead-ball line at least three times now. Can someone tell them they've got a howling southerly at their backs?

20 mins: Eels set comes to nothing. They looked guilty of trying to score with every touch.

19 mins: Parra on the attack after a penalty deep in Cronulla's red zone.

Trent Elkin, one of the central figures in the ASADA scandal, who was a trainer for the teams playing today - Cronulla and Parramatta - has finally broken his silence on his role in the drama.

If you haven't read Andrew Webster's in-depth feature on Elkin's story, click here

16 mins: Penalty to Cronulla, the Eels players ruled to have held the tackled player down too long just on halfway.

Holmes has plenty of pace. A commodity which has been sadly lacking out wide at Cronulla in recent years.

On-field ref says no try ... Holmes dived on a grubber as it went touch in goal. But he was just too late. NO TRY.

Possible try to Valentine Holmes ... Video ref checking.

13 mins: Cronulla dodge a bullet. The spill a bomb, Eels prop Tim Mannah regains possession then passes it straight to Sharks forward Chris Heighington.

GOAL Sandow nails the conversion from out wide. Eels 10-0

TRY Eels winger Semi Radradra strolls over after some poor Cronulla defence. Jarryd Hayne draws the defence, passes to centre Ryan Morgan, who hit the hole and put Radradra over in the corner. Eels 8-0 KTC

Sharks debutant Valentine Holmes was presented with his first NRL jersey by injured skipper Paul Gallen.

7 mins: Sharks rake Michael Lichaa goes himself on the last but is held out a metre or two from the line.

4 mins: A superb individual try from Jarryd Hayne, his 14th for the season, making the break near halfway then running around Michael Gordon and outpacing Jacob Gagan to score in the corner. Chris Sandow misses the conversion.

TRY. Jarryd Hayne. Brilliant. Eels 4-0

NO TRY. The strong wind is playing havoc with the footy from the start. Fuifui Moimoi nearly regained the ball after it ricocheted off Jeff Robson but he knocked on before Ryan Morgan scored.

14 seconds in and Parramatta may have scored. Video ref checking.

Welcome to live coverage of Saturday afternoon NRL from Remondis Stadium ... the hometown Sharks versus the visiting Eels.

Two erratic teams, hard to predict this one.

A couple of changes to the starting sides.

Debutant Bureto Faraimo is onto the Eels wing for the injured Ken Sio.

Another debutant on the Sharks wing, Valentine Holmes in for Siosaia Feki.

Kick-off just a few minutes away.

    Ladbrokes: Sharks $2, Eels $1.83

Michael Chammas writes: This is going to be one of the best games of the round. Cronulla have nothing to lose and Parramatta are at their best when they play like they have nothing to lose. It's no secret that Parramatta's success hinges on the performance of Jarryd Hayne. If he fires, they win.
    Tip: Eels by 4

AAP writes:  These two sides might be sitting in the bottom five, but they’ll both come into this match with some momentum under their belts after notching up wins last week against teams placed above them. With the Sharks’ Matt Prior suspended, Anthony Tupou and Tupou Sopoaga have been added to a five-man bench while, at the Eels, Peni Terepo replaces Kenny Edwards in the second row.
Key: Jarryd Hayne is in scintillating form. The Eels’ fullback scored two tries - one a freakish 75-metre effort - and made eight tackle busts in a match-winning performance over Gold Coast last week.

SHARKS: Michael Gordon, Sosaia Feki, Jonathan Wright, Ricky Leutele, Jacob Gagan, Fa’amanu Brown, Jeff Robson, Andrew Fifita, Michael Lichaa, Sam Tagataese, Luke Lewis, Wade Graham (capt), Chris Heighington. Interchange: Pat Politoni, Anthony Tupou, Tinirau Arona, Tim Robinson, Tupou Sopoaga (one to be omitted).

EELS: Jarryd Hayne (capt), Semi Radradra, Ryan Morgan, Will Hopoate, Ken Sio, Corey Norman, Chris Sandow, Tim Mannah (capt), Issac De Gois, Fuifui Moimoi, Peni Terepo, Tepai Moeroa, David Gower. Interchange: Joseph Paulo, Junior Paulo, Pauli Pauli, Ben Smith.
