72min: Raiders 16 Broncos 12: The Raiders hanging on with everything they've got. Jack Reed cops a late shot after kicking through on the last tackle. The kick is too heavy and goes dead in goal. This will be a brutal final eight minutes. Joe Picker is dazed after copping an accidental elbow from Matt Gillette.

70min: Raiders 16 Broncos 12: Swarming defence from the Raiders drives the Broncos back 30m on the last tackle. Big Petero is surrounded by four players, great enthusiasm by the home side. This is a cracking match.

67min: Raiders 16 Broncos 12: Bad news for the Broncos, two-try hero Alex Glenn grabbing at his left hamstring. Doesn't look good. He's being assisted off the field. Can't put any weight on it, could put him in danger of missing the finals, which are only a month away. Expect Ben Te'o to take his place in the centres.

65min: Raiders 16 Broncos 12: Hold the phone ladies and gentleman, here come the Broncos. Alex Glenn dances his way past a lazy Josh McCrone tackle to get the visitors back to within four points. Wallace converts.

62min: Raiders 16 Broncos 6: We're into the final 20 minutes and the Broncos haven't looked like troubling the Raiders line. Corey Norman is off the bench and should inject some spark in the halves alongside Peter Wallace. Joe Picker also getting his first game time for the Raiders.

56min: Raiders 16 Broncos 6: Shaun Fensom gets the try but give that one to Reece Robinson for his amazing effort to grab the Broncos penalty kick for touch. Robinson tippy toes the sideline to put the Raiders on the attack. A few plays later, Sam Williams sends Fensom on his way with a lovely short ball. Croker converts and the Raiders will take some catching from here.

54min: Raiders 10 Broncos 6: This is an absolute reversal of how the first half started, the Raiders on the attack and the Broncos defending for their lives.

53min: Raiders 10 Broncos 6: Lachlan Maranta's looking for a hole to crawl into after seeing Josh Dugan's drop-out bouncing over the sideline. The Broncos winger couldn't do much about it, as the ball takes a Shane Warne esque leg break at right angles to give the Raiders the ball back much to the delight of the home crowd.

50min: Raiders 10 Broncos 6: Official crowd of 9850 at Canberra Stadium. Enjoying a stinging contest. The Reed v Ferguson one on one duel is a beauty.

46min: Raiders 10 Broncos 6: One of the few incomplete sets for the Raiders, in fact the first that's happened before the fifth tackle. They're over 90 per cent at this stage. Gives the Broncos a chance to retake the lead. That's a poor last play from Peter Wallace, his grubber kick deflected off McCrone and easily contained.

42min: Raiders 10 Broncos 6: What a start for the Raiders - Jarrod Croker getting to a bomb to give the Raiders a four-point lead. Croker comes from nowhere to leave Josh Hoffman grasping at thin air. Croker converts his own try.

Second half: And here we go for the second half.

Stat attack: A quick look at who's doing what. Raiders lock Shaun Fensom and Broncos hooker Andrew McCullough leading the way with 30, with Travis Waddell and Corey Parker the next best on 25. Broncos leading the possession 53 per cent to 47, also have committed more errors (5 to 1) and conceded more penalties (5 to 4).

Halftime: Raiders 4 Broncos 6: A grinding first half ends with the Broncos holding a 6-4 lead. The visitors have dominated possession but the Raiders defended grimly running into a stiff breeze. They'll fancy their chances with the wind at their back for the final 40 minutes.

38min: Raiders 4 Broncos 6: Slammin Sam Thaiday is taking in the big ones after pulling off a sensational tackle on a flying Josh Dugan. The Broncos can ill afford to lose Thaiday for what's sure to be a cracking second half.

30min: Raiders 4 Broncos 6: Almost a deliberate kick dead from Josh McCrone. Gives the Raiders a chance to set their defence from the 20m restart. The possession starting to even up, with the Broncos back to 55 per cent.

27min: Raiders 4 Broncos 6: Travis Waddell is still unsigned for next year, but shows he's got plenty to offer with a clever dart out of dummy-half. The old sneak play 1m out from the line, burrows his way past a couple of Broncos. Croker's conversion hits the upright and bounces away.

21min: Raiders 0 Broncos 6: Finally, the dam wall breaks. A quick shift down the left from the Broncos, with Ben Hunt finding Jack Reed, who turns a beautiful back on the inside for Ben Teo to crash over the stripe. Great ball from the English international, who must be loving the lack of sun in Canberra. His fellow ranga, Peter Wallace nails the conversion from the sideline.

20min: Raiders 0 Broncos 0: Not sure how the Broncos haven't got the lead. They've had nearly 60 per cent possession but can't strike when it counts. The Raiders defending strongly on their own line. Doing well against the breeze.

17min: Raiders 0 Broncos 0: That annoying song ''Blow your whistle'' comes to mind in describing this one. The refs earning their keep. Another deft kick from the Broncos forces another set of six.

12min: Raiders 0 Broncos 0: A bit of inexperience there from Josh Papalii, the Raiders second-rower penalised for holding down at the play the ball. McCullough duped him into that one beautifully. A forward pass from the Peter Wallace ends any attacking chance the Broncos had.

10min: Raiders 0 Broncos 0: Nervous moment for the Raiders, Josh Dugan forced into tapping the ball over the dead-ball line after a deft grubber from the Broncs. Awesome 55m drop-out from Dugan, into the breeze no less.

9min: Raiders 0 Broncos 0: Bang, Josh Hoffman gets whacked with a swinging arm by David Shillington. Referee Gavin Badger quickly defuses the situation, awarding the penalty and saying Hoffman slipped into it. Looked worse than first thought.

7min: Raiders 0 Broncos 0: That bomb was a stinker! Josh McCrone's high ball gets caught in the wind and goes nowhere. The Broncos let it bounce and regather on their own 20m.

5min: Raiders 0 Broncos 0: Josh Dugan looking dangerous early, almost gets through the Broncos defence. He ends up with the ball on the last tackle but a rushed grubber kick is easily cleaned up by the Broncos.

3min: Raiders 0 Broncos 0: A great chance for the Raiders goes begging. After getting a pretty soft penalty against the Broncos for an incorrect play the ball 20m out, Reece Robinson can't handle a difficult pass and lets the Broncos off the hook.

2min: Raiders 0 Broncos 0: That Jack Reed v Blake Ferguson battle is going to be a beauty this afternoon. The Broncos ranga wraps up Ferguson ball and all in a sign of things to come.

2pm: So let's refresh that terrible Raiders home record one more time - three wins from nine games, including two massive losses from their past couple of home matches. Surely that's gotta improve.

1.57pm: It's that time again when I usually put the mockers on whoever I tip. After their last two home games there's no way I can back the Raiders with any confidence. And while the Broncos are in a slump themselves, the inclusions of Reed and Parker should get them over the line. Broncos by 16.

1.44pm: Cronulla's big win temporarily relegates the Broncos back to seventh on the ladder. Raiders fans will be cheering on Souths, a Rabbitohs win and a Raiders victory would put the Raiders on level points with the eighth-placed Titans.

1.35pm: The Sharks are absolutely giving it to the Warriors in Auckland, leading 39-4 with 15 minutes on the clock. For my mind, the Warriors have been the most disappointing team this year. Massive amount of talent but can't put it together. No chance of making the finals.

1.30pm: I'm getting dizzy just looking at all these changes to the Broncos team. Coach Anthony Griffin has reacted to last week's spanking to Parra, Ben Hunt moving to five-eighth with Corey Norman shifting to the bench. Two other big ins - England international Jack Reed straight into the centres and Corey Parker back at lock. Josh McGuire back to the bench, Aaron Whitchurch and Dunamis Lui omitted. The Raiders are 1-17.

1.25pm: Welcome to Canberra Stadium, a decent crowd arriving for what is a vital game for both sides. The Raiders to stay in the hunt for the top eight, and the Broncos to turn around last week's shocker v Parramatta. The Raiders have struck the first blow, taking out the Toyota Cup match 50-36 in a defence-optional contest.
