Thanks to everyone who followed today's blog. Hopefully everyone did the right thing and marked Anzac Day in an appropriate way. There will be a match report from today's game on smh.com.au shortly. Later tonight there will also be a live blog from the Brisbane-South Sydney game. Enjoy the rest of your day.

That's full time. The Dragons were brave but out-gunned. The Roosters looked like a team that won't be far away come the end of the season, the Dragons look like a team that will be in Bali in September. Roosters 34-14

There's some bad footage for NSW fans. James Maloney is having his shoulder wrapped up in the Roosters' dressing room. Michael Jennings is next to him.

This is now officially a rout. Shaun Kenny-Dowall somehow manages to get the ball down over the line. He had four Dragons on him but still got the job done. Tuivasa-Sheck misses the conversion. Roosters 34 -14

There is a couple of injury concerns for the Roosters. Centre Michael Jennings has is limping from the field with a leg injury. It doesn't look good for the Roosters or NSW with the State of Origin series looming large on the horizon. James Maloney also looks a little worse for wear, he too is heading up the tunnel. Stay tuned to smh.com.au for updates.

That's it. Game over. Boyd Cordner scores for the Roosters. They tri-colours have been too big and too strong all day. It shows again. The Dragons have lacked nothing in the effort department, they have haven't been able to physically match it with the Roosters. Maloney converts. Roosters 30-14

Trent Merrin makes a handling error. He has been very good for the Dragons today, but his team didn't need that.

There is now a simple equation - 17 minutes remain and the Dragons trail by 10. There is still time.

There is life in the Dragons. Gerard Beale scores, courtesy of a great pass from Gareth Widdop. Beale ran a great line and Widdop hit him perfectly. Widdop converts.  Roosters 24-14

A brilliant try-saving tackle from Anthony Minichiello keeps the Roosters' lead at 16 points. Creagh looked in for all money before the veteran No.1 did the biusiness. That made up for his shocker just before half time. Roosters 24-8

Jake Friend of the Roosters scores a try match against the Dragons.

The Dragons are asked to hang on again. They do. They look out on their feet and time is becoming a problem.

The way the Dragons have played so far is a far cry from the way they looked over the early rounds. To this point they have been out-muscled and out-thought by the Roosters. That's the standard the Dragons want to reach. They aren't there yet.

The Dragons survive. There is still (some) hope.

Thirty minutes remain. The Rosters are on the attack again. If they score here any faint hope the Dragons have will be gone.

Any hopes Dragons fan had that the try before half time would turn the game around lasted just three minutes into the second half. Friend's superb try has left the Dragons needing three tries to take the lead - provided the Roosters don't add to their tally.

Jake Friend. What a great individual play. After catching the Dragons without a full back, he charges out of dummy half, grubbers the ball into the in goal and wins the race to score a try. Maloney converts. Roosters 24-8

Back to the action. The Roosters kick off, holding a 18-8 lead.

Old Paul Zalunardo ... the style of the do Paul was rocking before he headed to the barbers.

Old Paul Zalunardo ... the style of the do Paul was rocking before he headed to the barbers.

Ed's note: There's been some controversy in league this season - the Melbourne Storm try after the bell, obstruction rulings, video refs - but nothing has rocked Herald Sport more than Paul Zalunardo's haircut. After letting his hair go, Zalunardo went short. Start the campaign #letyourhairgrowzal.

One tasty, yet small, part of Anzac Day is Anzac biscuits. These tasty treats can't be beat. A big thanks to Anna Lycett for these beauties which found their way to Fairfax HQ during the week.

During the break, here is some great news for league fans. Injured Knights player Alex McKinnon released a video today, outlining the progress he is making following that horrific injury against Melbourne. View the story here

Anthony Minichiello has had an airswing and cost his team a try on the stroke of half time. Just like someone playing golf from the first time, the head went up and their was a flurry of activity but no contact. Try scorer Nathan Green was the lucky recipient. A huge boost to the Dragons. Widdop misses the goal. Roosters 18-8

TRY to the Roosters. What an outstanding pass from Mitchell Pearce to Anthony Minichiello who crosses out wide. Pearce, a real lightning-rod among league fans, looked really good there.  Maloney converts from out wide. Roosters 18-4

SBW spills the ball. A poor pass from Mitchell Pearce didn't make things very easy for Sonny. The Dragons are lucky to only be down by eight points. In saying that, an improvement in their ball-handling may be enough.

No try is the ruling. Probably the right one as well. Video ref said Tupou lost the ball over the line. Let's get on with it.

Has Daniel Tupou scored again? The onfield ref awarded the try. It doesn't look so good on replay.

The Dragons make yet another error at their end of the field. The Roosters are on the attack.

The Dragons have hit back. They needed that. A great offload from Trent Merrin got them moving. Gerard Beale almost scored. Ben Creagh did on the next play. Widdop misses the conversion. Roosters 12-4

Here come the penalties for the Dragons. Two in the last minute has them on the attack. Will the Roosters ever learn that you can't interfere in the ruck they way they do? The set ends limply with Josh Dugan spilling the ball. They could almost have been awarded another penalty.

The Dragons had better pick up their act quickly. They are down 12-0 and are looking second best by a long way. If the Roosters are the next team to score, it is a long way back for St George Illawarra.

The first rule of under 10s is to play to the whistle. The Dragons didn't and Daniel Tupou has scored a try. Tupou was over the sideline but hadn't touched the ground before he fired the ball back infield. The Dragons simply stopped. Tupou then finished the move with a try. Maloney converts. Roosters 12-0

    Dragons, what have you done.

There's a much need penalty for the Dragons. Jared Waerea-Hargreaves is the man to blame. Can the Dragons make their first attacking raid count?

The Dragons have dropped the ball again. The don't need to be giving the Roosters any help. They're good enough as it is.

TRY to the Roosters. Aidan Guerra crashed through some weak defence. A combination of penalties and dropped ball from the red and white's contributed just as much as Guerra's run. The early signs aren't good for the Dragons. Maloney converts. Roosters 6-0

The Dragons survive, but only just. Mitchell Pearce regathered his last-tackle kick but was stopped just short of the line. Meanwhile, the Roosters get another penalty. That's three in a row to start the game.

Another penalty for the Roosters compounds an earlier handling error. This will test the Dragons. They hold James Maloney up once over the line.

After the Roosters are awarded a penalty, they charge downfield. The Dragon defence looked pretty good on that set, one which ends with a Roosters knock-on from a last-tackle kick. 0-0

An early mental error for the Roosters. Parked 30m out from the Dragons' line, the premiers opted for a weak final-tackle play. Surely they didn't count properly.

The crowd looks to be in excess of 35,000, the skies are clear and the playing surface remains patchy in appearance.

The Dragons have kicked-off and the match is underway.

After a fitting rendition of the ode, playing of the last post, minute's silence and singing of the Australian national anthem, it is time for some rugby league.

The two teams are heading onto the field behind captains Anthony Minichiello and Ben Craegh. All is in place for the formal part of the afternoon

With the ceremony underway at Allianz Stadium and the teams about to head onto the field, here is the team news.

The Dragons have made a couple of changes. Tyson Frizell will start the match for the Red V with Dan Hunt to start from the bench. On the bench, Jack De Belin will be one of the Dragons' interchange players, with Leeson Ah Mau the one to miss out. The Roosters are 1-17.

Hello league fans and welcome to one of the highlights of the NRL season - the Anzac Day match between the Roosters and Dragons. There is a bit of team news coming, but before we get to any of that it is fitting we all remember the most important part of today. A big thank you to the servicemen who have fought for our country and also to the families of these brave people. Hopefully you have all had a good day.

Michael Chammas writes: This is going to be one of the best games of the season. There's something special about this annual clash on ANZAC Day, and while St George Illawarra have enjoyed most of the success in recent years, the Roosters ended that dominance last year. However, you get the feeling the Dragons could upset the premiers in a tight contest at Allianz Stadium.

    Tip: Dragons by 1

AAP writes: Both sides returned to winning ways last week after some indifferent performances but it was the Dragons who looked the more convincing against the Warriors while the Roosters laboured to a hard-fought victory over Cronulla. But there were some encouraging signs for Trent Robinson with under-pressure five-eighth James Maloney rediscovering some form and representative back-rower Boyd Cordner producing his best display of the year. Dragons coach Steve Price was delighted with his team after the 20-10 over the Warriors with hooker Mitch Rein and Josh Dugan coming in for special praise.

Key: The Dragons’ ’spine’ was excellent in their last game with fullback Dugan, hooker Rein, halfback Michael Witt and five-eighth Gareth Widdop all impressing. But it will be a much tougher test against the premiers in front of a sell-out crowd.

DRAGONS: Josh Dugan, Brett Morris, Nathan Green, Gerard Beale, Jason Nightingale, Gareth Widdop, Michael Witt, Jack Stockwell, Mitch Rein, Dan Hunt, Joel Thompson, Ben Creagh (capt), Trent Merrin. Interchange: Bronson Harrison, Tyson Frizell, Mike Cooper, Leeson Ah Mau, Jack De Belin (one to be omitted).

ROOSTERS: Anthony Minichiello (capt), Daniel Tupou, Michael Jennings, Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, James Maloney, Mitchell Pearce, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Jake Friend, Sam Moa, Boyd Cordner, Sonny Bill Williams, Aidan Guerra. Interchange: Frank-Paul Nu’uausala, Mitchell Aubusson, Isaac Liu, Dylan Napa, Daniel Mortimer (one to be omitted).

    • Dragons are a sad joke. They are surely just making up the numbers and won't come within cooee of the Top 8 let alone the Top 4. With a Pygmy Pack of bumbling idiots led by the mistake prone Rein, St George are more suited to the NSW Cup than the rigours of the NRL. Lockwood needs to fall on his sword for letting Doust and Young fall asleep at the recruitment wheel. Dragons desperately need 3-4 good forwards who can defend the middle. Every team now knows run at Rein and the St George defense will open like Sydney Harbour heads.

    • A sadly predictable result - the Dragons are the softest team in the comp. in up the middle defence. Outmuscled, outclassed and thrashed. Badly in need of players who can learn a defensive pattern and tackle.
