Blues management announced on Thursday it would be appealing a nine-month suspension handed down to Woolford for allegedly smashing a window in the coaching box during last week's preliminary final win against West Belconnen.

But after discussions with Blues' lawyers and consideration of relevant information the Canberra Region Rugby League granted a stay of proceedings until the appeal is heard.

Woolford told Fairfax Media he was always confident of being able to coach on Sunday, and was pleased to be able to get back to focusing on the match against the Bulldogs.

"It was just a matter of getting through the process, it's been done and I'm free to fulfil my duties," Woolford said.

"I'm not too sure when the appeal will be now, there's a process to go through so we will work that out, and whether it's next week or the week after we're not too sure yet.

"The most important thing is we can get on with this weekend and I can focus on my job and the players can focus on their's and trying to win this grand final."

Canberra Region and Community Rugby League boss Mark Vergano said in a statement on Friday: "The CRRL is committed to ensuring that the highest standards of behaviour and discipline are met within the competition and is confident that all clubs would support these measures.

"Due to a number procedural and technical issues raised by the legal counsel for Simon Woolford, the CRRL, after consultation, has agreed to reschedule the hearing to a later date.

"The granting of the stay of proceedings will allow Simon Woolford to recommence his normal role and duties as head coach with the Queanbeyan Blues before this Sunday's grand final against the Goulburn Workers Bulldogs."

Woolford said the hearing hadn't interfered with his player's preparations, with the squad training on Wednesday night and having Thursday night off.

"It's no distraction for anyone really, I informed all the boys yesterday before it got out and about, and to be honest it's probably given them a little more motivation to do well on the weekend.

"They are digging their heels in and they are going to be ready to go."
