Horwill hopes to finalise his next career before the start of the 2015 Super Rugby season despite reports he has already commited to a lucrative deal with English club Harlequins.

Horwill also said he had no desire to return to the Test captaincy, throwing his support behind Michael Hooper as the Wallabies prepared to take on France on Saturday night.

The hard-working lock will add grunt to the Wallabies pack for a physical battle at Stade de France, his first opportunity to play at the intimidating venue.

"That's something that's for the future, I'll have a look at it after the tour," Horwill said. "The great thing about rugby is that there are opportunities to play around the world, but I'm purely focused on getting three wins [for the Wallabies]."

Horwill has started in just two Tests this year after being the first-choice second-rower for the first 49 Wallabies appearances of his career.

But new coach Michael Cheika said the 29-year-old had best adapted to the team's new game plan and now Horwill gets an opportunity to impose himself in the starting side.

"Until this year I hadn't played a Test match off the bench … you've got a different role," Horwill said.

"It was a bit different early on, but that's just the way rugby is. Cheik is very clear and honest with what he wants. You've got to make sure you deliver, if you don't, someone else gets an opportunity."

The Wallabies have put an increased focus on physicality to combat a fired-up French side this weekend.

They've also put plenty of work into scrum work to ensure it doesn't concede another penalty try after being overpowered by Wales a week ago.

Cheika gathered the squad to watch the forwards compete in an intense scrum session, packing down at No. 8 himself in a hands-on role.

The mantra in camp has been "we love scrums" and prop Sekope Kepu is confident that will transfer to on-field success.

Kepu will play his 50^th Test in Paris, but there was a time when he was injured and felt he needed to prove he belonged in the Wallabies set-up.

Kepu wanted to earn his place in the Test team so much that he wouldn't even meet some of his Wallabies teammates at the team hotel to avoid feeling out of place.

"Every injury setback is a chance to refresh the body, but you're not in the system and you've got that hunger to get in," Kepu said.

"We've got to get the whole forward pack buying into [scrums] and enjoying it. As much as we want to play flashy rugby, we've got to embrace the game here."

The Queensland Reds are hopeful of retaining inspirational skipper Horwill beyond the end of next year.

But Harlequins looms as a potential new home for Horwill, and Reds teammate Will Genia has been linked to Bath.

The Wallabies will boast impressive leadership qualities in their World Cup squad next year.

Incumbent Michael Hooper is growing into the job, while Horwill and Genia are former captains. Injured duo Stephen Moore and David Pocock have also had the captaincy job.

"I'm very happy with where I sit in the team, I don't have a desire to be a captain. I think Hoops has done a great job and I think Steve [Moore] was doing a fantastic job," Horwill said.

"I love playing for Australia and every opportunity you get, you don't want to waste it. I've got a lot of passion for it and I'll keep playing my way for the team to do whatever I can to help the team win."

Cheika said: "We're having fun with the scrum, not hiding from it. When there's a problem, let's deal with it.

"The end goal is to improve, have a set peice we can base attacking play from and maybe buck the trend in what other teams think, holding our own to be aggressive."
