The Brumbies are still waiting to piece their squad back together with Argentina scrumhalf Tomas Cubelli arriving in the capital on only Monday night.

It means the Brumbies will have just one full training session together before their clash against the Queensland Reds on Friday night, after a mid-year break for Test rugby.

Arnold was left out of the Wallabies side for the third Test against England last weekend after making his debut in the series opener and then backing it up in the second Test.

"It was awesome to get the chance to play both of those Tests and I'll be looking forward to hopefully getting another opportunity, but I have to play well for the Brumbies," Arnold said.

"[Wallabies coach Michael Cheika] said he was never going to play me in all three Tests and my body was a bit beaten up.

"But we lost both games and he needed to change something. Unfortunately that was the second row.

"To lose 3-0 to England was disappointing, it's not a good feeling and I won't forget it. But we'll get over it and I'm looking forward to this last Super Rugby stretch to the finals. We just have to win every game."

Arnold returned to Canberra with 14 stitches and a scar above his left eye as a reminder of his first international opportunity.

The physical nature of Cheika's training schedule left Arnold with a sore shoulder and a corked arm but he's ready to return to the Brumbies' starting XV.

The Brumbies had 11 players involved in Wallabies duties at various stages, with inside centre Matt Toomua making his comeback from a knee injury and scrumhalf Joe Powell training with the team.

Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham has called in club rugby flanker Dean Oakman-Hunt to boost training numbers after injuries to David Pocock and Jordan Smiler.

The Brumbies need to win their last three games to have any hope of making the Super Rugby play-offs, and are one point behind the NSW Waratahs on the Australian ladder.

The Reds, in contrast, are languishing near the bottom of the ladder after just three wins from 12 games this season.

They will be bolstered this week by the return of Wallabies lock Kane Douglas and powerful No. 8 Leroy Houston.

"[Douglas] has been injured for a while but he's back and I'm sure he'll be looking for a good game," Arnold said of the match-up with Douglas.

"Over the last few years [Australia] has probably been thin in the lock department, but now there's about eight locks that can step up and play. That's good for Australian rugby."

The Brumbies play the Reds, the Auckland Blues and the Western Force in their last three games of the regular season.

Toomua is back after knee surgery, and winger Joseph Tomane is also set for a comeback from a knee injury after missing the past two months of rugby.

Former Reds flyer Aidan Toua will be playing against his Queensland teammates for the first time in a Super Rugby contest, and said the Brumbies wouldn't underestimate their Australian rivals.

"We played the Reds in a trial so I got that awkwardness out of the way," Toua said.

"The Reds are playing for a bit of pride. They obviously haven't had the best year but they're improving and they showed against [the Otago] Highlanders that they can match the top teams when they turn it on.

"They'll be coming down with something to prove so we're taking this game very seriously."
