In a big day of contract developments, it can be revealed Anthony Faingaa and twin Saia will leave the Brumbies while Jordan Smiler has signed a deal to link with Japanese club Suntory.

The Brumbies are poised to announce multiple re-signings in the coming weeks as they build a roster for new coach Dan McKellar.

But the Faingaa brothers and Smiler have taken opportunities abroad for the next step in their respective careers.

Former Wallabies back Anthony Faingaa has been plagued by injuries since returning to the Brumbies in February and was released from the remaining months of his contract to set up his family in Japan.

Saia Faingaa is battling a foot injury but hopes to play a role in the Brumbies' finals campaign before he links with London Irish at the end of the Super Rugby season.

Brumbies No. 8 Smiler trained with Suntory on Tuesday where he will team up with Matt Giteau in the Top League season after he returns to Canberra to chase a Super Rugby title.

The Brumbies have secured Australia's guaranteed finals ticket and have all but locked on July 21 as their home play-off fixture.

The club is expected to be bolstered during the mid-year break by several players committing to new deals and Saia Faingaa has no doubt the Brumbies are set up for sustained success.

The veteran hooker has battled injuries and family heartache in this season after deciding to finish his Australian career at the Brumbies.

Faingaa's father, Saia snr, died before the opening round of the Super Rugby season.

"It's been a great experience coming home and with all the tragedy, I'm glad I signed to come back to the Brumbies," Saia said.

"But in the end I think it's time for me to move on [out of Australian rugby]. Especially for my wife and kids, they've done it tough over the last six years slugging it out away from home in the Super Rugby season.

"It can be tough when you've got a six-month-old kid and you come back trying to get to know them.

"This is a good opportunity for me to take my family to London, it's a new opportunity and they've sold me the dream.

"I've won a Super Rugby title, played for the Wallabies and play more than 100 games ... as well as playing for the Queanbeyan Whites.

"To have the chance to go overseas and chase something else in Europe ... that's where I'm at in my life."

The ARU has lifted its ban on player contracts, triggering a massive day of movement in the Australian ranks on Tuesday.

The Queensland Reds will release Wallabies veteran Rob Simmons and Leroy Houston at the end of the year while the Rebels, who are fighting to avoid being axed from Super Rugby, signed former British and Irish Lions lock Geoff Parling.

The Brumbies are working to finalise several deals after having more than 20 players off contract at the end of the season.

Brumbies chief executive Michael Thomson said: "We can't compete with some of the money on offer overseas, but Saia, Anthony and Jordan have been great for our club.

"The thing about playing in Canberra is once you're a Brumby, you're always a Brumby and the door will always be open for them in the future."

The Brumbies announced McKellar as their new leader last week, with outgoing mentor Stephen Larkham to become a full-time Wallabies assistant.

The Brumbies beat the Rebels last weekend to cement their place at the top of the Australian conference and ensure they will play finals for a fifth consecutive season.

Faingaa met with medical staff on Tuesday to discuss his foot injury but is unsure if he'll be able to play in the last two games of the regular season or the finals.

"I obviously haven't had the biggest input to the Brumbies [on the field] this year, but it's more about off the field now and being part of it even if I'm not playing," Faingaa said.

"I want to help the team be successful and it's still important for me to help get the team ready.

"I came back to the Brumbies for an opportunity and to prove myself a bit. Injuries and off-field stuff hasn't worked out to plan, but I'm very, very happy to be back here and a part of it all."
