But the former Reds flyer says he's a "world away" from the problems that stunted his progression at the club before finding his feet in Canberra.

Toua has already racked up more games for the Brumbies (12) in less than a year than he did in four seasons with the Reds (10).

The injury-free run has helped him discover his best form and propel the Brumbies along a run to the Super Rugby play-offs.

The Brumbies will roll out a new-look back line for the sixth game in a row when they play the Reds at Canberra Stadium this week after injuries and reshuffles for the past three months.

Playmaker Matt Toomua will make his comeback from a knee injury while Joseph Tomane is also set to make a return for the first time since April 24.

Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham will name his side on Thursday night after just one full training session as a team following the end of the international break for Wallabies Tests.

Argentina scrumhalf Tomas Cubelli only arrived back in the capital when Toua picked him up from the airport on Monday night.

But Toua says limited time together will not be used as an excuse for any miss-firing attack against the unpredictable Reds.

Half of the Brumbies' back line spent time at the world club 10s in Mauritius during the Super Rugby hiatus while the other half were in camp with the Wallabies.

"It took a while for us to adjust to the 10s, but getting rugby in rather than just running laps was really good," Toua said.

"Hopefully that transfers into Friday night. We all know the big task ahead of us with the next three weeks, everyone is pretty switched on.

"Maybe there's a little bit of getting back together, but as the game goes on I'm sure we'll be fine. Christian [Leaiifano] and [Toomua] have played for countless years.

"As long as you're fresh mentally, all of those things come back to you pretty quickly."

Larkham is still weighing up his back-row options and how to replace David Pocock and Jordan Smiler for the next three games.

The Brumbies play the Reds, the Auckland Blues and Western Force and need to win all three to keep their title ambitions alive.

Pocock (fractured eye socket) and Smiler (knee) are expected to miss all three games to end the regular season, opening the door for Michael Wells and Ben Hyne to get game time.

Toua has played every game for the Brumbies this season after ending a stint in France to move to Canberra.

It's the first time in his career he's been able to avoid injuries, playing just two games in the Reds' Super Rugby championship season of 2011.

However, the 26-year-old burnt the Brumbies in Canberra in 2014 with a blistering run from inside his own half to set up an unexpected Queensland triumph.

"I've felt a lot more comfortable out there this year and you feel more confident as the year goes on, I'll be looking to take that into Friday night," Toua said.

"Unfortunately [the injuries] did dominate my time at the Reds, but that's a world away now and I'm really happy where I am.

"I have fond memories from Ballymore and good mates there, so I'm looking forward to this one."
