Kuridrani and Queensland Reds' Samu Kerevi will collide in what is expected to be a bruising outside centre contest at Canberra Stadium on Friday night.

Kuridrani has had a mortgage on the Wallabies' No.13 jersey for the past three seasons, but it's one of the most hotly contested positions in the Australian team with Kerevi and Israel Folau mounting challenges.

Kuridrani and Kerevi teamed up as a giant centre pairing for the first two Tests against England in June, but the Fijian pair are now rivals gunning for each other as the Brumbies launch their Super Rugby finals charge.

"It's going to be a good one, Samu is a wonderful attacking player with great feet and very powerful when he runs," Larkham said.

"As is Tevita. Tevita's defence is probably a shade ahead of Samu's. It's going to be an interesting battle, rarely do you get [outside centres against outside centres] in the game.

"But I think they can certainly both make an impact on the result of this game depending on how they go.

"Tevita's season has been good ... his work-rate has been outstanding. The times when he's touched the ball more recently he's been very dynamic and powerful. The challenge for the coaching staff is that we get the ball to Tevita as much as possible because he is a dangerous player."

Wallabies battles across the field will add extra intrigue to the clash when the Super Rugby season resumes.

The Brumbies are chasing Australia's guaranteed finals berth with just three games remaining in the regular season.

They are level with the NSW Waratahs on points, but are ahead of their interstate rivals because they have won more games this year.

That could change this weekend with the Waratahs hunting a bonus-point triumph against the Japan Sunwolves and the Brumbies bracing for a brutal clash against the fired-up Reds.

The Reds are out of finals contention, but will see the match as an opportunity to shake up the Australian conference in the run to the play-offs.

The Queenslanders will get an icy reception in the capital with temperatures expected to dip to below four degrees during the game.

But Larkham says the Brumbies' only focus is steadying their season and making sure they don't falter in the final rounds.

The Brumbies have struggled to cope with the extended mid-year Super Rugby hiatus for Tests since its introduction in 2012.

Of the six games they've played after month-long breaks in 2012, 2013 and 2014, the Brumbies only have a 50 per cent success rate.

It has cost them top spot in the Australian conference in the past and set them on a difficult road to the championship. That's something Larkham wants to change this year.

"It's the crucial end of the season now, we've put ourselves in a good position now like we have over the past couple of years," Larkham said.

"We've let ourselves down in those last three games in previous years and that's hurt our finals campaign. If you finish at the top of the Australian conference, it makes things a lot easier.

"If you don't, you have to fight your way through away from home. We've got injuries but I think we're in a better position than we have been. It's a new team and new competition this week."
