But Henry Speight says securing a play-off berth almost two months before the finals start will give the players "peace of mind" as they throw themselves into Wallabies selection battles this week.

The Brumbies booked a finals ticket for the fifth consecutive season when they scored a bonus-point win against the Melbourne Rebels on Saturday night.

The Brumbies will now have a five-week break before restarting their season against the Queensland Reds on July 7 and preparing for a home final on the weekend of July 21-23.

Hosting a finals match looms as massive financial boost for the Brumbies as they sit on the cusp of ending a decade of deficits after losing more than $3 million in the past three years.

The cash injection from an extra game could help the Brumbies turn the corner with their finances, as well as paving the way to chase what would be a drought-breaking title.

But before they get to the play-offs, eight Brumbies and coach Stephen Larkham flew into Wallabies camp on Sunday to start their quest for gold jerseys.

Speight said knowing the Brumbies' fate was already settled would help players focus solely on the mid-year Test series, which starts with a clash against Fiji on Saturday.

"It was probably the most important week of the finals and we knew if we won it would cement our place in the finals," Speight said.

"If not, we knew we'd be chasing our tails again after the June break and hoping on results in the last two weeks to get into the play-offs.

"It gives you a bit of peace of mind in the June Tests and you can just concentrate on playing for the Wallabies because we know we've got a home final."

The Brumbies killed the NSW Waratahs' and Western Force's hopes of challenging for a finals spot when they scored three second-half tries against the Rebels to seal a win.

It continued an impressive form turnaround after the Brumbies were on the verge of disaster after losing four games in a row before bouncing back.

Few gave the Brumbies a chance of making the play-offs at the start of the season after losing key players, including Stephen Moore, David Pocock, Matt Toomua and Joe Tomane.

Losing Christian Lealiifano (leukaemia) and Tomas Cubelli (knee) didn't help their cause.

But rookie captain Sam Carter praised the squad's resilience and believes the Brumbies can be a contender to end New Zealand's dominance.

Kiwi teams have won 29 consecutive trans-Tasman derbies and the Brumbies haven't beaten a New Zealand team since round one last year.

The Brumbies play the Waikato Chiefs in the last game of the regular season on July 15 and will then likely face either the Chiefs, Wellington Hurricanes or Otago Highlanders in the first final.

"At the start of the season a lot of people asked us what it's going to be like this year with all those players leaving and we said nothing changes for us," Carter said.

"The focus is the same and we still trained as hard as ever and that's starting to pay off.

"We haven't won as many games as we did last year but we're still in a position to take ourselves which is a pleasing thing.

"We'll get to face a New Zealand team in Waikato before the finals and it could be the Chiefs twice in two weeks for us, but our focus doesn't change, we have to come together as a squad."

The Brumbies will play a game against an Asia Pacific side in Singapore on June 22 as a warm up before resuming Super Rugby duties.
