The Brumbies are set to be boosted with the additions of inside centre Christian Lealiifano and outside centre Tevita Kuridrani for Friday night's match with the Melbourne Rebels at AAMI Park.

Lealiifano has missed the first five games of the season with an ankle injury, while Kuridrani was granted compassionate leave from Saturday night's gritty 25-15 win against the Stormers at Canberra Stadium to attend a family funeral in Fiji.

Coleman was left out of the team for the season-opening loss to the Queensland Reds, but has taken his chance because of injuries, first to Joe Tomane (foot) and then Henry Speight (jaw), scoring four tries in as many appearances including a double against the Stormers.

Lealiifano and Kuridrani will compete with Wallabies ironman Pat McCabe and the experienced Andrew Smith for spots in the starting side.

"It's a good headache for the coaches to have,'' Coleman said.

''It's something as a backline we talk about, we always say we want to be the best backline in the world.

''That's not just the seven backs starting, that's everyone in the squad.''

The Brumbies showcased their impressive depth against the Stormers, grinding out a tough victory despite having eight first-team regulars unavailable.

Flanker Jarrad Butler picked up a head knock and will undergo concussion tests this week.

Coleman has been the Brumbies' Mr Fix-It since making his debut in 2010.

The Queanbeyan product has played every position in the Brumbies' backline apart from outside centre, but is starting to feel more comfortable on the wing after the disappointment of being overlooked at the start of the season.

"I was pretty devastated to miss out on the team in round one,'' Coleman said.

"The last two years I've had not much game time because of my groin injuries, but this year I got a pre-season under my belt and was feeling in the best shape I've ever been.

"I went off and had a think about it and looked at a lot of other people in the team, people like [reserve hooker] Josh Mann-Rea, who give their [all] every day even if they're not starting.

"I've just got to improve every day and was lucky enough to get the call the week after.''

Coleman's second try against the Stormers was a freakish play, picking up a loose ball off a grubber kick from Brumbies captain Ben Mowen and diving over to score in the corner.

While his try-scoring ability gets all the headlines, Mowen said it was other parts of Coleman's game that usually fly under the radar that earn him the plaudits.

"He was outstanding for us [on Saturday night] and has been for the last month,'' Mowen said.

"He was extremely unlucky not to get selection in that first game and he's bounced back.

"It's the little things that he's doing that we value: his clean-out work, his work on the deck, his kick-chase; they're the things we value and he's doing them very well.

"He's got a pretty complete game at the moment.''
