Tomane is one of three Brumbies players leaving Canberra at the end of the season, along with co-captain Stephen Moore and playmaker Matt Toomua.

The 26-year-old joined the Brumbies in 2012, code-hopping from NRL club Gold Coast Titans to join World Cup-winning coach Jake White.

He's since played 17 Tests for the Wallabies and was part of their World Cup campaign last year.

But he looks set to leave for France at the end of season, while Toomua will join English club Leicester and Moore will return to the Queensland Reds.

Tomane said his future wasn't "settled" yet and his only focus was on getting picked to play the Wellington Hurricanes in the Brumbies' season opener at Canberra Stadium on Friday.

He said the move to Canberra came at a time when he needed a "relaxing type of place".

Tomane said the Brumbies had made sure he bought into their plan and had gone from having the best supporting staff in Dean Benton, to now having the best supporting staff in athletic performance director Ben Serpell.

Whatever happens and wherever Tomane goes, the Brumbies will always hold a special place in his heart.

"This is the club that took a chance on me. When I first came down here I was just on the outers in rugby league and I was looking for a fresh start and they took a punt," he said.

"They didn't really know too much about me and then they took a huge gamble and I'm so grateful they took that opportunity.

"This club, not only the club, but the ACT in general, I've loved every single minute living in Canberra and still am enjoying every single minute here as well.

"I'm pretty much a product of what they wanted to create. I was fortunate enough to come down here because I got to experience something that every rugby player wants to experience."

Tomane said everyone in the squad, including himself, would want to do everything than can to send off Moore and Toomua in the perfect style.

But neither Moore nor Toomua were looking that far ahead.

Toomua has already stated he wanted to show the Brumbies how much they meant to him in his farewell season.

He's signed a three-year deal with Leicester to end a decade in Canberra.

Toomua will no doubt look to add to his 31 caps for Australia later this year, but he said his focus was solely on the Brumbies.

Given his departure is a whole Super Rugby season away, it's not surprising he's "not really emotional yet".

"It's future Matt's problem, as I've said, I'll let him worry about it. I know I've got some work to do and I'll concentrate on that and if I get a bit sad later in the year, which I'm sure I will, I'll deal with it then," Toomua said.

"But the best gift I can give to the team and the club and the supporters is to play the best I can. To do that I can't really focus too much about leaving yet.

"Very much all my goals are Brumbies related this year, I haven't looked to anything overseas or even internationally, it's all about the Brumbies this year and that's where I'm thinking."

Moore will return to where his Super Rugby career began and he played 47 games.

He'll play his 150th Super Rugby game when the Brumbies run out against the Hurricanes and has currently played 102 times for both the two-time Super Rugby champions and the Wallabies.

The 33-year-old hooker was hoping to make some history in 2016.

"I've been around long enough to be able to handle everything that comes with this situation … and I'm thoroughly focused on this year and making the most of it," Moore said.

"I said to the boys, no matter who is coming or going or whatever is happening, whatever happens in 2016 will be in the history books and will be with us forever.

"Beyond that doesn't really matter, particularly with this group. We've been together a while, we know each other well and there's a good respect there among the players."
