The rolling maul will be one of the Brumbies' major weapons when they host the Crusaders at Canberra Stadium on Saturday.

Flanker David Pocock scored three tries for the Brumbies from the rolling maul in last weekend's 33-20 win against the Western Force in Perth.

"It's one thing to know it's coming, it's another thing to stop it," Crockett said.

"Whether that draws a penalty or scores points, it's a great attacking weapon.

"They've been doing it really well all year.

"It's as much a mental challenge as anything.

"You've got to make sure you get in there nice and early and low and commit to stopping the drive.

"There's a few different tactics we can employ, it's just about being fully committed to whatever you do to try and stop it."

The Brumbies have already booked their place in the finals, but are trying to claim the Australian conference and a home semi-final.

Bonus points could come into calculations with the Brumbies level on points, but behind on the number of wins, with the NSW Waratahs.

"I think the Brumbies will play to their strengths," Crockett said.

"They are a very disciplined and structured side, they have a great set piece, a great rolling maul.

"They're too smart to start chasing bonus points early in the game.

"We're expecting a really tough match up front.

"If it gets a bit looser later on, then so be it."

It's a different outlook for the visitors, who are in the unusual position of missing out on the playoffs.

The Crusaders – the most successful team in Super Rugby history – want to send departing champions Richie McCaw and Dan Carter out on a winning note.

"They've obviously been world-class players for a long time and have had plenty of opportunities to play for other teams, but they have always been really committed and been good Crusaders men," Crockett said.

"They have given a heck of a lot to the team.

"That added motivation to send some absolute legends of the game off on a good note is one that was touched on this week.

"When I came into the team, looking at those guys, it was pretty inspiring to see what they did out on the field."

The Brumbies are set to welcome back Wallabies flyhalf Matt Toomua from an ankle injury, while Henry Speight is also a strong chance to take his place on the wing.

Toomua missed last week's win against the Force, while Speight rolled his ankle and was replaced midway through the second half.
