But the Brumbies hope rookie utility James Dargaville will be cleared of a serious foot injury on Monday, which could free him up to ease the back-line woes for the clash against the Melbourne Rebels.

The Brumbies were hit hard in their loss to the Auckland Blues on Friday night, with flyhalf Matt Toomua (ankle) and prop Scott Sio (knee) ruled out for at least a month.

They join Tevita Kuridrani, Jesse Mogg, Rory Arnold, Fotu Auelua and Leslie Leuluaialii-Makin in the rehabilitation group as the Brumbies prepare for a crucial run of three home games.

The Brumbies wrapped versatile back Rodney Iona in cotton wool on Saturday, withdrawing him from the Tuggeranong Vikings' game against Easts to ensure he was fit to train this week.

First-year Super Rugby players Iona, Nigel Ah Wong and Lausii Taliauli are all set to take on more responsibility to cover the loss of Toomua and potentially Dargaville while Kuridrani and Mogg edge closer to comebacks.

But Moore says the Brumbies cannot afford to dwell on missing players and missed opportunities if they are to stay focused on their title ambitions.

"It's as simple as we need to get up and move on, there's no point in moping around," Moore said.

"It's always tough after you lose and we've got a few injuries which is always disappointing. But we need to remain positive and just have to get up for [this weekend].

"I read something from [Chelsea English Premier League coach] Jose Mourinho and he said whether you win or lose, you've got to turn up the next day and get on with it."

Dargaville played in pain for the last 15 minutes of the 16-14 loss to the Blues in Auckland.

But if he is cleared of a suspected broken foot, he looms as the man most likely to shift to inside centre with Christian Lealiifano moving to flyhalf to replace Toomua.

Robbie Coleman could also move from fullback to inside centre if needed.

Jean-Pierre Smith could get his chance to start at loosehead prop in the absence of Sio, while Allan Alaalatoa is the only other fit front-rower in the Brumbies' squad and will be added to the bench.

Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham will wait until later in the week before naming his team and will check on lock Rory Arnold's back complaint before rushing him back to Super Rugby duties.

"The guys that have come off the bench the whole year have done a fantastic job. We knew there would come a time where we'd have a few injuries," Moore said.

"We've had a couple with [David Pocock] early on. You've got to take it on the chin and guys who haven't had an opportunity will get one.

"For those guys in the training squad, this is what you wait for and they'll take their opportunity."

The Brumbies have won just one game in the past four weeks. But they are still at the top of the Australian conference and second on the overall standings.

The NSW Waratahs' loss to the Cape Town Stormers on Saturday night gave the Brumbies more breathing room in the battle for Australian supremacy, allowing them to hold on to a seven-point buffer.

"We're still on top of the Australian conference, it comes down to that in the end and we've got to strive to win every game from now on," Larkham said.

"We were a bit tentative in the first half [against the Blues] and the players turned it around in the second half.

"It's difficult when you're chasing points ... We did everything right in the second half and that showed when we had a kick at the end to win it."

The Brumbies got through the first six rounds of the season without having to make a change to their back line.

"But that was a physical game against the Blues. We were unlucky with injury last year and we want to make sure that doesn't happen again this year," Larkham said.

"We've got some significant players who are injured at the moment, but one pleasing thing is the depth we've generated will hopefully put us in good stead."
