Former Red Hugh McMeniman is the latest addition to the Western Force squad.

Former Wallaby Hugh McMeniman has signed with the Western Force for the 2013 Super Rugby season.

McMeniman, who earned 21 Test caps for the Wallabies and has been playing in Japan for the past three years, represented his country at the 2007 World Cup.

New Force coach Michael Foley said the 28-year-old would help add some additional mongrel to the team's forward pack.

"Hugh is a player of the highest calibre, he plays with a lot of mongrel and having seen his performances in Japan, he's lost nothing since he's been gone," he said.

"While the Force lost some experience at the end of last season, Hugh will share the load with others who will step up to fill that void. He's very powerful in his general play, and, importantly, he's a player that will drive standards within the squad."

McMeniman, who previously played 29 Super Rugby matches for the Queensland Reds, said he had missed playing in the competition.

McMeniman said he had a good relationship with Foley, extending back to his days with the Wallabies.
