The Brumbies travel to New Zealand to take on the Chiefs next Friday night.

79th min: Helter skelter stuff, passes going from both sides. The Cheetahs knock on, giving the hosts one last shot to salvage victory.

77th min: Ben Mowen has his passed knocked down but the Cheetahs knock on themselves to give the Brumbies a scrum 35m out.

75th min: Hang on, we've got a thrilling final five minutes here. Lealiifano kicks another penalty to reduce the gap to two points, Cheetahs up 23-21

72nd min: Another strong game from Stephen Moore, replaced by Anthony Hegarty for the Brumbies. Meanwhile, the Cheetahs unleash one of the best names in the game - Ryno Benjamin - for the final eight minutes. Just behind Chilliboy from the Bulls

71st min: Inside the final 10 minutes in the nation's capital and it's hard to count the Brumbies out just yet. Need to hold tough defensively on their own line, and not give Goosen any penalty shots from within halfway.

68th min: Lineout again giving the Brumbies some trouble, losing their own throw in an attacking area. Benny A in his 50th game picks one up off his bootlaces just like he's hoeing down a cheap steak at the Labor Club.

65th min: After scrum after scrum, the Brumbies finally get a penalty and take the shot at goal. Lealiifano knocks it over to reduce the defecit to five points. Game on here for the final 15 minutes. Ruaidhri (Rory) Murphy on for the Brumbies in place of Dan Palmer.

63rd min: Resetting scrums, oh yeah! That's what the crowd of 12,377 have come to see

60th min: Ian Prior very busy since coming on for Nic White in the first half. Throwing crisp passes and getting the Brumbies moving forward at every opportunity. Scott Fardy looks to have scored but the big beard is deemed to have been offside when picking up the ball.

59th min: Dig yourself a hole to jump into Hennie Daniller, what a blunder. The Cheetahs fullback gets a roasting from the crowd for dropping a regulation kick from Jesse Mogg, giving the Brumbies a scrum 30m out.

58th min: You've got to be kidding, this isn't altitude! Johan Goosen is lining up for penalty goal from 62m with a little bit of breeze behind him. It's a few metres short, and there goes the perfect record after 16 straight.

56th min: Peter Kimlin having a blinder for the Brumbies, especially since as a ranga he must be burning up under the intense sunlight.

52nd min: Welcome back Pat McCabe. The Wallabies star is on the end of a long drive from one side of the field to the other. Prior's neat pass find McCabe on the right wing to stroll over untouched. Lealiifano's conversion goes across the face of the posts. Cheetahs lead 23-15

50th min: Whoever No 25 is for the Cheetahs, he's sporting one of the best haircuts in world rugby. Cross between a buzz cut and a mullet, popular down in Tuggeranong on a Thursday night. Back to the game, Scott Fardy on for the Brumbies in place of Ben Hand, who's in the blood bin.

48th min: Geez, the wheels are coming off here for the home side. Matt Toomua hooks his kick-off out on the full, giving the Cheetahs a scrum on halfway. Flanker Michael Hooper has come on from Ita Vaea for the Brumbies.

47th min: When he's not stuffing himself with ham sandwiches, our man in the media box Chris Dutton reports the crowd is doing its best to pump up the Brumbies. At the moment it's to no avail, Ben Hand penalised for a ruck infringement giving Goosen an easy shot at penalty goal. He makes no mistake, the Cheetahs leading 23-10.

45th min: Plenty of gaps in the Brumbies' defensive line. Fortunately, Philip Snyman's pass drifts forward and gives the Brumbies a scrum 20m out. The Cheetahs penalised for going too early on the hit, Brumbies line-out 40m out.

44th min: Another penalty at the breakdown puts the Brumbies on the back foot. They're going to have to defend strongly here to prevent the Cheetahs extending the lead.

42nd min: Whatever the Cheetahs said at halftime has worked a treat. Le Roux slices down the left-hand wing, jinks back in to find scrumhalf Tewis de Bruyn, who dives over untouched. Goosen makes no mistake with the conversion. The Cheetahs lead 20-10, and there's stunned silence around Canberra Stadium.

Halftime: Hard to think this is the same Cheetahs team smashed 51-19 by the Bulls last week, and who also lost to the Lions in the opening round. The South Africans putting up a great fight so far.

Halftime: Interesting the two teams and their different approaches in the sheds. The Brumbies are split into two groups, with Jake White doing one and one chats and Laurie Fisher addressing the forwards, while the Cheetahs are standing in one big huddle. We'll see what method works best after the break.

Halftime: For any Canberra Raiders fans who are online, the Raiders' under-20s team are leading the Toyota Cup match with the Gold Coast Titans 32-16 with 25min left in the second half.

Halftime: I've been enjoying the Fox Sports coverage, but not sure how much I get out of a halftime player interview, especially in such hot conditions. Had to feel for Pat McCabe, just let the bloke get into the sheds, put his feet up and suck down some water.

40th min: The Brumbies give away a penalty on the stroke of halftime for diving in on the ruck. Cheetahs flyhalf Johan Goosen hasn't missed a shot at goal in 2012, and he keeps his perfect record intact from 20m out close to the posts to give the South Africans a 13-10 lead at halftime.

39th min: Great desperation from Stephen Moore and Ben Hand to dive on the ball and force a turnover, 20m out from the Brumbies line. Both sides desperate to hang on until halftime in the hot conditions.

37th min: Christian Lealiffano has his radar on today, splitting the uprights with a sensational penalty goal from 35m out close to the right sideline. Scores locked at 10-all

36th min: Andrew Smith does a little tippy toe down the sideline to stay in off a great ball from Peter Kimlin. The Brumbies earn a penalty with the chance to tie up the scores.

33th min: That man Le Roux was just about gone down the sideline again only for the ball from Hennie Daniller called forward. Very little in it, Raiders coach David Furner would've blown up if that was made a week ago at the same ground.

32nd min: Henry Speight's fantastic take in the air soured by a Brumbies forward spilling the ball in mid-field. Getting very scrappy as we get closer to halftime, the heat definitely taking effect. Nic White has been subbed off due to a virus he was suffering from earlier in the week.

30th min: Nic White leaving the field for the Brumbies with an injury, former Queensland Reds scrumhalf Ian Prior comes on for his first appearance for the ACT.

28th min: These definitely aren't two of the better sides in Super Rugby but they sure are entertaining. Throughly enjoying this pretty even contest. Nice chip from Le Roux covered up by Jesse Mogg, who puts the hammer down and slices through the defence.

25th min: Willie Le Roux is an absolute handful, $100 to anyone in the crowd who can get a hand on the Cheetahs flyer. Almost skins the Brumbies again, this time down the right side. Luckily for the hosts his pass doesn't go to hand.

24th min: Is that a South African rugby team or the Dutch soccer side at Canberra Stadium today? Deadset not much between the two.

22th min: Penalties proving costly for the Brumbies. A booming kick for touch puts the Cheetahs only six metres out from the Brumbies line.

20th min: The Brumbies recover the ball from the kickout, but Andrew Smith knocks the ball on to give the Cheetahs the scrum on their 40m line.

19th min: Beautiful set play from the Cheetahs from the lineout. The big prop takes the ball from the throw and feeds it to the speedy Willie Le Roux. From there it's shut the gate as the winger scores under the posts. No worries with the conversion. Cheetahs lead 10-7

17th min: Both sides beginning to feel the rare afternoon kick-off in the nation's capital. About 25 degrees, hot enough to have the big forwards gasping for air. Wouldn't want to be fighting the Cheetahs' 125kg props for the water bottles at the break.

15th min: Matt Toomua has brought his A-game today, throwing a lovely inside ball to Henry Speight followed by some fancy footwork when running at the line. The Cheetahs withstand the Brumbies' attacking raid and boot the ball out for a lineout 40m out.

14th min: Nic White scheming beautifully down the right-hand edge, finding a hole in the Cheetahs defence but his pass is called forward. Looked pretty clean from my angle off the TV screen in Bruce.

12th min: The Cheetahs are killing themselves with basic handling errors, dropping the ball cold to give the Brumbies another fantastic attacking opportunity.

9th min: Nic White shows he's overcome the flu to make a splendid break down the field. A couple of phases later the ball flies out to Henry Speight, with the Fijian flyer diving over for the first try of the game. Christian Lealiffano takes over the kicking duties from White to great effect, slotting it from the sideline. Brumbies 7-3

8th min: Johan Goosen scrubs an attempt at a drop goal which Phil Kearns rightfully describes as ''rubbish''. Brumbies launch the ball long from the restart back to the Cheetahs' 22m line.

6th min: Jesse Mogg tries an ambitous chip and chase, doesn't come off but the Brumbies get the ball back for a scrum 40m out.

4th min: The Brumbies put together several phases before they're penalised for holding in the ball. The visitors showing a bit early on.

2nd min: The Cheetahs strike first with a penalty goal, 3-0
