But after Cheika and the Wallabies delivered the killer blow to England's World Cup campaign, it could be a frosty reception when he's greeted by the Royal family.

Cheika, captain Stephen Moore, Henry Speight and Michael Hooper will be among an exclusive group who will be greeted by the Queen at a World Cup function for the quarter-finalists.

It could be a Commonwealth bridge-mending exercise after Prince Harry proudly wore his England jersey and brother William, the Duke of Cambridge, supported Wales at the World Cup, but neither has backed Australia.

Prince Harry sat just metres away from Cheika during the Wallabies' 33-13 win against England, and the coach conceded there were a few harsh words flying around before he realised there was royalty nearby.

The win was the knockout blow to England's embarrassing World Cup campaign, which saw them become the first host country in the tournament's history to be knocked out before the quarter-finals.

Buckingham Palace is a world away from Cheika's fierce pre-game motivational speeches, passionate half-time sprays and his reputation as a Randwick hard-nut in his playing days. But he joked he might even shave for the occasion.

"It'd be an honour [to meet the Queen] I suppose. I've never really considered it to be honest," Cheika said.

"They hide events from me until they're just about up, so that I don't get upset about it. This is one I'm sure that everyone will enjoy doing, the lads that are going."

The Wallabies have been given plenty of downtime in the past two days to help them recover from a brutal clash against Wales last weekend.

They are undefeated after their four pool matches and play Scotland in a quarter-final contest at Twickenham on Sunday (Monday morning AEDT).

Players have been rolling around London on segways after Quade Cooper hooked his teammates up with a set of wheels.

Cheika said allowing the players to break away from the team confines would be crucial in keeping them focused for a World Cup tilt.

"I've offered them a couple of days off for the mind and for the body," Cheika said.

"…I've tried to stay out of their way. I think the last bloke they want to see is me … just get away from rugby for the moment. It's good for me so it's got to be good for them as well.

"Everyone having that opportunity to do their own thing and be an individual for a minute, and then jump back in as a collective.

"They're not silly, they know what they're doing. Especially since I've seen a few of them rolling around on this segways … I don't think it's considered a performance enhancer."

The Wallabies have relocated their base from central London to Teddington in the south west, closer to Twickenham.

"We're over here for a job and our greatest passion is playing the game and playing it well and making everyone back home proud," said scrumhalf Nick Phipps.

"I think a lot of people blur the lines between having fun and playing well. For us, we could have fun anyway no matter where the camp is. The boys are quite good at entertaining themselves and using their down-time well."
