The Wallabies can force England into an embarrassing exit from the World Cup if they beat their arch-rivals at Twickenham on Saturday night (Sunday morning AEST).

Pocock will resume his combination with Michael Hooper and is confident the duo's extended training time together will pay dividends in the tournament-defining clash.

Their partnership will be a key feature and will give the Wallabies the breakdown advantage as they aim to disrupt England possession.

But any error in judgement will be punished by England sharpshooter Farrell, who nailed five penalties, a drop goal and a conversion in his side's loss to Wales last week.

"In bigger games, the margins are smaller," Pocock said. "We have to make the correct decisions around the breakdown, being disciplined in what we do, but also backing ourselves to go for any opportunities.

"I've enjoyed [teaming up with Hooper] and I certainly feel a lot more comfortable [at No.8]. I think all the work with Hoops and [Scott Fardy] … that back row stuff is starting to pay off a bit."

The 'Pooper' partnership is set for its biggest test in front of 82,000 fans at Twickenham.

It will be their third Test in the same starting side and comes 12 years after George Smith and Phil Waugh teamed up against England in the 2003 World Cup final.

Wallabies coach Michael Cheika said their form made it impossible for him to overlook them in the starting line-up, despite his preference for a more traditional back row.

Pocock is still fitting into the No.8 jersey, but is relishing his return to the Test arena after two knee reconstructions.

The clash against England will be the first against the Old Enemy since 2010.

"I guess the bigger the game, the more interest there is and the more build up," Pocock said.

"It's exciting, I mean that's why you play the game, you want to play against the best and you want to compete at the top level.

"We've been preparing well and we'll see what they throw at us."

Australia has made 14 changes to the starting team which beat Uruguay 65-3 last weekend.

Ben McCalman has been added to the bench ahead of Sean McMahon to replace Will Skelton, while prop James Slipper has recovered from concussion.

The selection rotation for the past two months has cast doubt about whether the Wallabies' combinations will click and whether the players are match-hardened.

The starting team running out against England has played together just twice – the first Bledisloe Cup match against New Zealand and the World Cup opener against Fiji.

But Wallabies attack coach Stephen Larkham insists the rotation policy won't affect their chances of beating England.

"I think that we've certainly got a lot out of these first two games, in terms of being right for this level of rugby," Larkham said.

"There's plenty of things you can say in the media, but it's not going to benefit your performance on the weekend. We're trying to keep it short and sharp to make sure the focus is right."
