Force to sign McMeniman

Western Force are this morning expected to announce the signing of Queenslander Hugh McMeniman for one season.

McMeniman, 28, has represented Australia in 2006 and 2007, after spending the past two years with Japanese club Kubota.

The forward will sign on with the Force for the next Super Rugby season.

His career started out with Queensland Reds in 2005 before he was sidelined by a serious shoulder injury.

Injury struck again in 2006 while he was playing for the Wallabies, with another shoulder injury and then a neck injury.

In 2007, McMeniman was held back by two knee injuries, but went on to play four out of five matches in the Rugby World Cup squad.

Western Force head coach Michael Foley is expected to front this media at 11am to formally announce the signing of the key forward.

With more than four months still remaining on the Japanese season, it was not clear when McMeniman would begin training in Perth.
