The Brumbies' re-signing blitz will continue on Wednesday when Wallabies lock Fardy and fullback Jesse Mogg commit to the club for the next two seasons.

It follows Matt Toomua, Christian Lealiifano and Nic White all turning down offers to leave Canberra to focus on building a championship era.

More players are set to follow in the coming days with Scott Sio, Henry Speight and Jarrad Butler close to finalising new deals.

Fardy and Mogg were rugby unknowns two years ago when they joined the no-frills Brumbies squad.

But after starting their careers on $40,000 ARU-funded extended player squad contracts, both have played for the Wallabies and are targeting World Cup spots.

Fardy, 29, hopes his rise debunks the theory that older players are better off finishing their careers abroad.

Fardy had almost given up on his Super Rugby goal and the Wallabies were a pipe dream when he finished his playing stint in Japan at the start of 2012.

“It was an easy decision for me, I was always going to stay in Canberra,” Fardy said.

“The Brumbies gave me my first shot and I want to repay them for that. Sometimes you pinch yourself with how far you’ve come in the past few years and without the Brumbies I wouldn’t have done it.

“It’s exciting with all the guys staying. There’s a perception that players have to leave Australia when they get to their late 20s or early 30s.

“But I think when you get to your 30s, you’re in your peak. Rugby is a game for adults, not little boys.''

In Australia, there’s a suggestion when you get to 28, but teams that win World Cups have a wealth of experience.”

Toomua made a long-term commitment to Canberra and re-signed until the end of the 2017 campaign, while Lealiifano, White, Fardy and Mogg will all play for at least the next two seasons.

They join Wallabies Stephen Moore, Ben Alexander and Pat McCabe who all have deals until the end of next year, while skipper Ben Mowen (France), Andrew Smith and Ruaidhri Murphy (both Ireland) will leave at the end of the season.

The Mogg-Fardy double signing is another boost as the Brumbies prepare to ramp up their finals bid when they start a two-game tour of South Africa on Sunday morning, Australian time.

They play the Free State Cheetahs in Bloemfontein before taking on the Pretoria Bulls next week.

Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham has been working to try to re-sign his roster as a host of players search for new deals.

One of the biggest challenges has been juggling the salary cap with players like Mogg and Fardy now commanding higher salaries than they did when they started two years ago.

Mogg was plucked from club rugby with Wests to be the Brumbies’ first-choice fullback the past two seasons.

He made his Wallabies debut in the series against the British and Irish Lions and is aiming for another Test berth against France next month.

The 24-year-old turned down an initial approach from the Melbourne Rebels and resisted the temptation of interest from clubs in Japan and France.

“My preference was to always stay, it was just a matter of sorting it out and there’s a lot of pressure in the squad to keep everyone,” Mogg said.

“It’s great to try to keep the core squad together and we want to stay together.

“I’d definitely love to get back into the Wallabies' set up and hopefully I’m thereabouts for the French series.”

The Brumbies will be based in Johannesburg until later in the week before flying to Bloemfontein to play the Cheetahs.

The Brumbies haven’t won in Bloemfontein since 2009.
