Greg Growden writes: The Stormers may not be scoring tries, but they certainly know how to stop other teams from getting into their territory. Their rigid defence will be the Waratahs biggest hurdle, especially as the tourists haven't exactly been consistent in the opposition 22m zone.

AAP writes: The Waratahs set off to South Africa hoping a little team bonding can breathe some life into their ailing season. But it's a tough ask to beat the Stormers at Newlands, where they haven't lost this season. Exciting fullback Bernard Foley is back in the squad to give them some spark while Brendan McKibbin returns to halfback. Wycliff Palu is on the bench with Dave Dennis playing at No.8 while Sitaleki Timani will also start at lock. Doubts remain over Test hooker Tatafu Poloto-Nau (head knock) with a decision set to be delayed until match eve. The Stormers are still in the search for a No.8 after Nizaam Carr became the fourth back-rower they've lost this season.

STORMERS: Joe Pietersen, Gio Aplon, Juan de Jongh, Jean de Villiers (c), Bryan Habana, Peter Grant, Dewaldt Duvenage, Jebb Sinclair, Rynhardt Elstadt, Siya Kolisi, Andries Bekker, Eben Etzebeth, Brok Harris, Tiaan Liebenberg, Steven Kitshoff. Reserves: Deon Fourie, Frans Malherbe, De Kock Steenkamp, Don Armand, Louis Schreuder, Burton Francis, Gerhard van den Heever.

Rocky Elsom (c), Sitaleki Timani, Dean Mumm, Sekope Kepu, John Ulugia/Tatafu Polota-Nau, Benn Robinson.
