But Larkham said his priority was Super Rugby and he would be dead against any role that would affect his job at the Brumbies, despite World Cup-winning coach Bob Dwyer calling on the ARU to immediately add Larkham and Michael Cheika to the Wallabies setup.

Larkham is preparing for the Brumbies' Super Rugby season and the World Cup-winner has not been approached about a role in the Test environment.

The ARU has denied it has approached potential replacements for McKenzie, including Jake White and Chieka, as speculation continues that the coach will be axed after the Bledisloe Cup in Brisbane on Saturday.

Former champion five-eighth Larkham conceded two weeks of off-field incidents had "stirred up some deep problems", but insisted McKenzie had already set up strong collaboration with Super Rugby coaches.

Dwyer suggested Larkham and Cheika retain their Super Rugby duties, but join the Wallabies for the spring tour of Europe as a coaching brains trust.

"I think there's enough collaboration between Super Rugby coaches and Ewen. He put some initiatives in place and we've had a number of conversations about how we play and why we do things," Larkham said.

"I think it's been working quite well. Both parties have been very open.

"I would be open to helping [if I was asked], but my focus is purely on Brumbies rugby. Anything that distracts me or detracts from that role or the program, I would be dead against it.

"I'm passionate about Australian rugby and I want the Wallabies to do well, but I also want the Brumbies to do exceptionally well. I want to make sure I'm doing the best job for the Brumbies first.

"I'd certainly like to help the Wallabies, but that's not my role at the moment."

White's management has made contact with the ARU, while it's understood Cheika turned down an approach from officials.

Former Brumbies coach White has a proven record of international success, leading South Africa to World Cup glory in 2007, but it's understood his abrupt exit from Australian rugby when he quit the Brumbies last year could affect his prospects.

The Wallabies won just two games in the Rugby Championship and have won 11 of 21 Tests under McKenzie's guidance.

They face the All Blacks in Brisbane on Saturday night in the third Bledisloe Cup contest.

Larkham believes the Wallabies could have ended a 12-year Bledisloe Cup drought had Australia been able to turn a 12-12 deadlock into a win in the opening game of the series in Sydney.

The Wallabies recent dramas include Kurtley Beale's impending ARU code of conduct hearing, speculation about McKenzie's future and the appointment of former staffer Di Patston.

"Ewen's only been in the job for a little while and we're a year out from the World Cup. I think he does a very good job with managing teams," Larkham said.

"The last couple of weeks have certainly been tumultuous. Purely talking about the Wallabies, we probably let a game go against the All Blacks in Sydney, which was disappointing.

"Had we won that, we probably would have won the Bledisloe Cup because I would have backed us to win this game in Brisbane.

"The last couple of weeks has stirred up some deep problems and you'd have to say it has affected the performance of the team on the field. It's shifted the focus away from what it should be on.

"But prior to that, I thought we were sailing pretty smooth. Had a good spring tour last year, a good series against the French. These last two weeks have rocked the boat, but there's no reason why the ship can't be steadied."
