New Brumbies chief executive Michael Jones is continuing a worldwide search to secure a sponsor with less than a month left before the opening round of the season against the Queensland Reds.

But they will resist the temptation to lower the price tag, believed to be worth more than $1 million per season on a multi-year deal, and Jones says the team will wear jerseys with sponsors on the sleeves, but not prime position on the front.

"We have left the new design for this year's jerseys, both home and away and merchandise, as cleanskins, there will be no naming rights sponsor on the front," Jones said.

"If we sign a sponsor before then, we'll re-do the players' jerseys and get the branding on them. There's no stress about that.

"We don't need to lower the price, why should we be discounting? We haven't found a sponsor yet but we're getting into it now and all of the stakeholders are really behind us."

The Canberra Raiders started the 2012 NRL season without a sponsor and opted to put the ACT Eden Monaro Cancer Support Group in prime position before signing a deal with Huawei.

Super Rugby rivals the Western Force found 23 different front-of-jersey sponsors last year, with starting positions sold for $50,000 and reserves for $25,000.

But Jones is confident the Brumbies will find a major partner in the coming months and is not willing to cheapen the brand.

The Brumbies have filled four of the five sponsor spots available on the playing strip, with only the front-of-jersey space up for grabs.

Jones is taking the reins to lead the Brumbies into a new era following a boardroom overhaul and coach Stephen Larkham stepping up for his first year as a sole head coach.

The Brumbies have secured Allhomes, which is now part of the Domain Group and Fairfax Media, publisher of The Canberra Times, as the club's shorts sponsor while places on the sleeve and two spots on the back have been taken.

Jones replaced Doug Edwards last week, moving into rugby union after being in charge of Australia's America's Cup campaign.

"Allhomes are staying with us, they're a great sponsor. We're touching base with others, we've widened the net already and we'll see how it goes," Jones said.

The Brumbies start their season against the Queensland Reds at Canberra Stadium on February 13.

The Brumbies endured a tumultuous two months at the end of last year, with Edwards stepping down as chief executive and chairman Sean Hammond being ousted at the annual general meeting.

The Brumbies lost $1.07 million last year and have cut $100,000 from their high performance budget for this season.

But Larkham believes the club is positioned to charge towards their first Super Rugby championship since 2004, despite the off-field shake-up.

"We're basically turning over a leaf with a new chief executive coming on board, we've got a brand new captain, new vice-captains and a new head coach," Larkham said.

"It's a new leaf for the Brumbies organisation, we certainly want to take a step forward on where we were last year and we want to make sure this organisation is successful."
