Flanker Colby Faingaa may choose to explore his options after the Brumbies signed George Smith.

The ACT Brumbies have bolstered their bid to make the Super Rugby play-offs by signing George Smith but the club great's arrival could make for interesting contract negotiations with Colby Faingaa.

The Brumbies have signed veteran Smith for the rest of the season and he will add depth and world-class talent to the back row.

The club had hoped to hear from Faingaa this week about whether he wanted to re-sign with the Brumbies.

Faingaa was a Super Rugby regular two years ago, but injuries limited him to two games last year and he watched on as Michael Hooper cemented himself as a dominant openside flanker.

The 21-year-old has played the first two games from the bench.

But with David Pocock the marquee recruit and Smith on board, it's unclear how Faingaa will fit into the set-up.

Brumbies coach Jake White is using his team's bye week to begin finalising his roster.
