Star flanker Hooper will find out today if he is cleared of foul play and available to take on the Reds at Canberra Stadium on Saturday night.

Hooper was cited for a lifting tackle on Wellington Hurricanes forward Victor Vito last Friday night.

While the on-field referee Mark Lawrence decided a penalty was sufficient, the review committee deemed the tackle had reached the red-card threshold.

Former Brumbies manager Ray McNicol argued Hooper's case before the judicial officer decided to review it again overnight.

The Brumbies were hopeful Hooper could escape suspension after Reds fullback Luke Morahan only received an off-field yellow card two weeks ago.

But the SANZAR review panel decided Hooper's tackle was worse and said he could have been sent off in the clash against the Hurricanes.

Already this year Reds winger Digby Ioane was suspended for five weeks for his tip tackle on Durban Sharks flanker Marcel Coetzee while NSW Waratah Rob Horne missed two matches for a similar effort on Kurtley Beale.

If Hooper is rubbed out, it will be a massive blow for the top-of-the-conference Brumbies. The 20-year-old has been a stand-out performer this season and the Brumbies suffered when he was on the bench against the Reds last month.

Colby Faingaa will likely be brought into the squad if Hooper is suspended. Brumbies outside centre Andrew Smith said the whole team would shoulder Hooper's work load, not just Faingaa.

''We got smashed at the breakdown [the last game against the Reds] and we know it's going to be crucial this time,'' Smith said.

''Whoever gets on top there will go a long way to winning the game … it's not one or two players, it's every player on the field and we all have a role to play.''

The Brumbies' painful 20-13 loss to an injury-ravaged Reds at Easter cut so deep that Jake White's team has been looking forward to the Canberra rematch ever since.

Despite a season of surprise highs, skipper Ben Mowen revealed their one big low point has been held up as an irritating example of passive play that won't be tolerated again.

''That game against the Reds is one we bring up a lot at team meetings so far as we don't want that happening again,'' Mowen said. ''There was a lot that we weren't happy about, and our attitude was off.

''We were outplayed by a desperate Reds side then and they're definitely going to be better this week - they've played themselves into form and they've got Quade Cooper and Digby Ioane back.

''So [Saturday night] is a match that we've been looking forward to.''
