Canberra junior Kimlin has played his last game for the Brumbies as he prepares to link up with French club Grenoble.

The versatile big man has been included in the Wallabies squad by new coach Ewen McKenzie for the Rugby Championships so he will delay his move abroad until his Test duties finish, which could mean he remains until after the Spring tour. The 28-year-old has signed a one-year deal with Grenoble with an option in his favour for a second season.

But Kimlin, pictured, has spoken with McKenzie about his Wallabies future, including the possibility of an Australian comeback to push for a spot in the World Cup squad.

''I made a decision [to leave Canberra] at the start of the year when [Robbie Deans] was still in control [of the Wallabies],'' Kimlin said.

''The Rugby Championships weren't in my thoughts. Ewen wants me to stay and he's shown that by picking me for the Rugby Championships.

''I'll keep my options open for next year and I'm a chance of coming back. I can't look too far forward … I'd love to play as many games as I can for the Wallabies and ultimately the World Cup.''

Kimlin was one of several Brumbies who finished their immediate playing days with the team as they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss to the Chiefs in the championship match. George Smith, Ian Prior, Colby Faingaa, Zack Holmes and Dan Palmer will also leave Canberra.

Kimlin is one of 12 Brumbies who will front for Wallabies duties in Sydney on Tuesday as McKenzie takes the coaching reins for the first time.

The Rugby Championship begins against New Zealand in Sydney on August 17.

Kimlin played two Tests in 2009 but injury put his international career on hold.
