Lealiifano says the heartbreak of having to watch as the Brumbies crumbled under pressure last season will be a spur when the team starts its Super Rugby title bid at Canberra Stadium.

The ACT and Wallabies No.12 will play his first Super Rugby finals match when the Brumbies take on the Free State Cheetahs.

It comes just a month after Lealiifano made his Test debut and three weeks after booting Australia to victory in the second game against the British and Irish Lions in Melbourne.

Lealiifano admits his first Wallabies campaign left him drained. But the 25-year-old is refusing to let the intense series against the Lions weigh on him and insists he is re-energised and ready to help the Brumbies chase the championship.

''Coming back from Wallabies camp, it was draining because it was such a massive series, but this is all about finals - it's our last chance and you don't want to throw it away because you're drained or flat,'' Lealiifano said.

''The beauty of the last couple of years is we learn from every experience we've had. It's all about improvement here … we just want to express ourselves on Sunday. You can't worry about pressure. You work too hard to get this opportunity to win the whole thing.''

The Brumbies are preparing for their first finals campaign since they won the title in 2004.

The Brumbies were on the cusp of a shock finals berth last season, having to win the last game of the regular season to clinch a spot in the top six. But in a spectacular meltdown, they lost to the Auckland Blues.

It was hard to swallow for Lealiifano, who was on the sideline after he broke his ankle earlier in the season.

Lealiifano said his ankle still was not 100 per cent, but a modified training schedule with the Brumbies had helped to manage the injury.

The star inside-centre rebounded in superb style this year to be the competition's third-highest points scorer and was rewarded with his first call-up to the Wallabies to take on the Lions.

Already this season he has nailed pressure kicks to lift the Wallabies to win the second Test and the Brumbies to victory over the Pretoria Bulls in March. ''My main focus is trying to kick well for the Brumbies and hopefully kick us through the finals,'' he said.

■ The Brumbies will hold a meet-and-greet fan day at Garema Place on Thursday with 10 players cooking a barbecue for supporters from 12.30pm - and also giving away tickets to the match against the Cheetahs on Sunday.

Almost 10,000 tickets have been sold for the first finals match in the capital since 2004 and the club is hoping for a sellout.
