And Larkham believes Super Rugby's clash with the opening Test of the international season could open the door for Mogg to continue his rapid rise through the ranks.

Wallabies coach Robbie Deans will juggle Super Rugby and Test commitments for the first time this year when Australia plays Scotland on June 5. The Brumbies play the Melbourne Rebels on June 1 and the Waratahs play the next day.

Ben Alexander, Stephen Moore and Pat McCabe are all incumbent Wallabies while Mogg, Christian Lealiifano and Dan Palmer are pressing their claims for higher honours.

Mogg continued his outstanding debut season with another strong performance in the Brumbies' 36-34 loss to the Bulls on Sunday morning.

Larkham had no doubt Mogg could make the step up if called upon, despite only being plucked out of club rugby last year. ''I think Moggy has played some outstanding football, for mine he's definitely the form Australian fullback of the competition,'' he said. ''He's made some mistakes but he has made up for them each week.''
