The Brumbies have named an almost unchanged line-up for their clash with the Free State Cheetahs in the capital.

Wallaby Pat McCabe will make his return from a shoulder reconstruction, while Ben Hand will replace Leon Power in the second row.

Coach Jake White was been linked to a return to international rugby and has been short-listed for England's top job.

But skipper Ben Mowen said the Brumbies' sole focus was beating the Cheetahs.

''We're so focused on getting the right result with the Cheetahs game that we're not really thinking anything outside of that,'' Mowen said.

The media was allowed to ask Mowen one question about White's future before the focus was turned to the game.

The clash with the Bloemfontein-based Cheetahs will be prop Ben Alexander's 50th Super Rugby cap and the Wallabies front-rower is determined not to let the visitors spoil his milestone match.

Alexander has become a mainstay of the Brumbies' pack since making his debut in 2007.

He was part of the Brumbies side which got caught in an ambush from the Cheetahs last season, but he's confident it won't happen again.

''We had a habit last year of playing teams into form,'' Alexander said.

''We [lost to the Queensland Reds] and went on a long winning streak and [after losing to the Cheetahs] they beat the Crusaders.

''Our game against them last year was almost to see who could score more points.

''They dictated the pace of the game and we'll look to do that this year and control the match.''

Rookie Jesse Mogg will get his opportunity to impress at fullback with Robbie Coleman on the sideline injured.
