Coleman is poised to make the No.15 jersey his own, with Jesse Mogg out for at least the first month of the Super Rugby season recovering from a shoulder reconstruction and Pat McCabe forced into premature retirement.

But the Queanbeyan junior says he doesn't fear the "Mr Fix-it" tag, and is determined to turn his ability to play almost every position in the back line into one of his biggest strengths.

Coleman will play flyhalf for the Canberra Vikings in their must-win National Rugby Championship match against Brisbane City at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday.

The only position Coleman hasn't played for the Brumbies is outside centre, but coach Stephen Larkham is set to back the speedy former Australian sevens player as a fullback.

"Fullback and flyhalf are quite similar these days in terms of being a playmaker," Coleman said.

"It's unfortunate for Moggy and Patty McCabe with their injuries. I love that open space at the back with fullback and feel I can add a different dimension there.

"I'll sit down with [Larkham] in the pre-season and if I get chosen to step up at fullback, it's something that I will thrive on and take the opportunity."

Mogg had a shoulder reconstruction last week and is starting up to six-months rehabilitation, which could rule him out for up to six games of the Super Rugby campaign.

The Brumbies are set to boast a back line of Wallabies stars next year, with Nic White, Matt Toomua, Christian Lealiifano, Tevita Kuridrani and Joseph Tomane cementing their Test spots.

Winger Henry Speight will likely make his Wallabies debut on the spring tour of Europe.

Coleman was on the verge of a shock Wallabies call up in the middle of the year as a winger following the best season of his career.

Coleman believes the Brumbies have the talent to win the Super Rugby title next year.

But the 24-year-old's immediate focus is on keeping the Vikings' NRC hopes alive. The Vikings need to beat Brisbane City and then hope the NSW Country Eagles beat the Perth Spirit to make it into the finals.

Coleman is adamant the Vikings can be a title contender if they sneak into the play-offs.

"We've been caught out on a few little things. We're not making any excuses, but we're not out yet," Coleman said.

"There's not a feeling in the group that this is our last week. We want a massive performance so we can take some confidence into the finals if we make it.

"I believe if things go our way and we get a chance ... we can win it if we play our best footy."

The Vikings will be bolstered by the inclusion of Speight, who is set to play 50 minutes in his first game since the Super Rugby semi-final.

Brisbane City is expected to have Will Genia in its line-up after the former Wallabies captain was overlooked for a spot in the Test team to play New Zealand on Saturday night.
