The 29-year-old journeyman is coming off the most productive season of his career and has established himself as the first-choice openside-flanker in the country.

Fardy played in 10 of the final 11 Tests of the year for the Wallabies after making his debut in the Bledisloe Cup opener against the All Blacks.

It was only two years ago that Fardy was playing in Japan and joined the Brumbies on a extended-player squad deal worth just $40,000 for the 2012 season.

He will be in line for a significant pay rise and will have no shortage of clubs willing to chase his signature after making his mark on the international stage.

And while he's yet to begin talking with the Brumbies about a new deal, Fardy made it clear his preference is to remain in Canberra.

''We haven't started [negotiations], but I'm obviously keen to stay here,'' he said.

''I've got two good coaches I'm happy to play under and that's what drives my decision.

''With Laurie and [Larkham] here I'm very happy and hopefully for a long time after this.

''From what I've seen the work-rate [at training] has been there over the pre-season and I can't see things changing too much.''

Fardy is one of several Wallabies at the Brumbies who will be off-contract at the end of next year.

Five-eighth Matt Toomua, inside-centre Christian Lealiifano, prop Scott Sio and fullback Jesse Mogg will all be on the open market.

Brumbies teammates Henry Speight, No. 8 Fotu Auelua and Clyde Rathbone will also be looking for new contracts.

The Australian Super Rugby salary cap could make it difficult for the Brumbies to retain the core of the squad which took them to this year's final.

Fardy played a pivotal role in the Brumbies revival.

He was rewarded with a spot in the Wallabies and selection in his first spring tour.

Fardy was concussed during Australia's loss to England before returning to the starting line-up for the final two games against Wales and Italy.

He was given a verbal warning for his role in the late-night drinking session before the Test with Ireland in Dublin, which led to six players being stood down.

Fardy believed it was always going to take time for the Wallabies to adjust to the attacking style of play that coach Ewen McKenzie wanted to implement.

''You've got to mould the style from each province and create our own way of play,'' he said.
