Australian Rugby Union boss Bill Pulver was in Canberra on Wednesday and detailed his vision to put the capital back on the Test radar following the success of the just-finished British and Irish Lions series.

Pulver also:

■ Praised the Brumbies' financial turnaround, which is set to deliver a million-dollar profit to the Super Rugby club this year;

■ Wants to keep White in Australian rugby despite being overlooked for the Wallabies job, and;

■ Backed plans for an integrated global rugby season that would scrap the June window for international matches.

Canberra has been left off the Australian Test schedule since hosting the Wallabies and Fiji in 2010.

Rugby league celebrated Canberra's centenary by moving the Anzac clash between Australian and New Zealand to the capital earlier this year.

Cricket also hosted an international between Australia and the West Indies at Manuka Oval in February.

But Pulver said Test rugby in Canberra was dependent on the government's plans for a new venue by 2020.

''All Tests in Australia are locked in for the next couple of years, so a match can't be here then,'' Pulver said.

''If the indoor stadium gets built, the ARU would look to find a way to reward that sort of investment. If we had a tour with Scotland or Ireland, you'd definitely look at the option for Canberra.''

The Brumbies are set to receive a $500,000 financial boost when they host a home Super Rugby final for the first time in nine years.

The club has recorded operating losses for the past two seasons, including a $520,587 shortfall last year.

The Brumbies planned for a $548,000 profit this year after hosting the Lions in a midweek tour match and that will be boosted with the financial windfall from playing finals rugby in Canberra.

''The Brumbies are limited in their financial potential by the Canberra market, but they are one of the best-run organisations in Australia,'' Pulver said.

White will lead the Brumbies until the end of 2015 and is likely to pursue a return to international coaching when his tenure finishes.

Queensland's Ewen McKenzie beat White to be the new Wallabies coach earlier this week.

''Jake's done a stellar job with the Brumbies and he was right up there for the Wallabies job, I sincerely hope we can keep him in Australian rugby,'' Pulver said.

Super Rugby resumes on Friday after a four-week bye to accommodate the Test matches.

The Brumbies haven't played since beating the Melbourne Rebels on June 7 and will have just one match to fine-tune their performance before the finals get under way.

There is a push for an integrated global rugby season, which would move the Test matches to the last three weeks July from 2016.

''I absolutely love the idea. If we could move the June window to July, it would mean we could complete the Super Rugby season,'' Pulver said.

''It's quite inconvenient for Super Rugby clubs to have that bye and this would be a massive boost for Australian rugby.''
