The Brumbies are sweating on the results of Hooper's SANZAR judicial hearing after he was cited for alleged foul play in the team's 37-25 win over the Wellington Hurricanes on Friday night.

Hooper lifted Victor Vito and the Hurricanes No.8 overbalanced, with the momentum causing him to land head-first.

Referee Mark Lawrence and his assistants felt a penalty was sufficient.

But after reviewing the match, the SANZAR citing commissioner deemed the ''incident had met the red card threshold for foul play''.

Hooper's potential suspension would be a massive blow for the in-form Brumbies. The 20-year-old has been a standout performer and has emerged as a Wallabies bolter for the mid-season Test series.

The Brumbies also have Ita Vaea who is capable of playing openside flanker.

But if Hooper is ruled out, Faingaa looms as his most likely replacement.

Faingaa is the only other specialist ball fetcher on the Brumbies' roster and the Reds will use destructive duo Beau Robinson and Liam Gill to win the battle of the breakdown.

Faingaa was in a battle with Hooper for the Brumbies' No.7 jersey before an ankle injury crippled his start to the season.

But the former Australian under-20s captain has been regaining match fitness and form playing for the Tuggeranong Vikings in the John I Dent Cup.

The Brumbies were woeful at the breakdown against the Reds when the teams met at Suncorp Stadium last month.

But Hooper said the Brumbies had learnt their lesson and were out for breakdown revenge.

''It's a chance to get some redemption for last time where we didn't play too well and it's a chance to knock off the champions,'' Hooper said.

''The Reds play two [openside flankers] and they all go hard at the ball, but I think there are ways to deal with that.

''As long as we focus on those and get those executed, we'll be fine. We need to be more urgent and more ruthless around [the breakdown].

''We weren't up to scratch last time, we weren't hard enough.''

Hooper was knocked out in the first half of the Brumbies' win over the Hurricanes.

Despite admitting to being blurry immediately after, he was still one of the team's best performers and scored a try as the Brumbies launched a second-half surge to win the match.

Reds fullback Luke Morahan made a similar lifting tackle on Waikato Chiefs centre Sonny Bill Williams last weekend, but was only shown an off-field yellow card and was free to play against the Johannesburg Lions last night.
