The festive season delivered everything from babies to engagements for some of Canberra's sporting personalities, but it's hard to top the gift to ACT Brumbies winger Joe Tomane and his new wife, Anastasia Venardos.
The long-term couple were married on an island near the Sunshine Coast in mid-December, the location so secret that Tomane was keeping his lips sealed.
"We did a two-day thing and got married on this little island with immediate family and had a party with 300 guests the next day," Tomane said.
"Most of the [Brumbies] boys came up, which was awesome, especially as it was the weekend before the last week of pre-season.
"Getting the island was a massive blessing, it was a wedding gift from a friend. They don't usually have weddings there, we're not allowed to say anything.
"My wife is pretty laid-back as well, we weren't really stressed about the ceremony or the cake, just get it done."
The couple spent their honeymoon in New York and Mexico.Tomane got to watch the New York Knicks lose to Washington in the NBA on Christmas Day.

Michael Rogers proved he's still a big fish in the cycling world by claiming his first Tour de France stage win in 2014 but, as an angler Dodger makes a good cyclist.
NBA star Patty Mills proved karma still exists by returning early from shoulder surgery with the San Antonio Spurs, not long after spreading some festive cheer at his adopted city's children's hospital.

Canberra Capital Carly Wilson caught up with Canberra United 2014 premiership stars Caitlin Munoz and Michelle Heyman at Canberra's New Year's Eve fireworks.
