The Brumbies overcame a half-time deficit against Queensland to send shockwaves through the tournament with a gritty 5-3 win to earn a spot on the grand final.

The Brumbies will play against Sydney in the final as they attempt to avenge a championship defeat 12 months ago.

"It's amazing, it was all heart in the second half there," said Brumbies captain Shellie Millward.

"They took it to us in the first half and really showed us what Queensland are made of. We expected that, but we had to lift in the second half and I'm so proud of the girls."

Wallaroos veteran Louise Burrows scored the match-winner in the 42nd minute off the back of a rolling maul to make it three wins from three games at the tournament.

Burrows, a 39-year-old mother of two and school teacher, is chasing selection for what would be her fourth World Cup campaign with the Wallaroos.

But the inspirational Brumbies leader is intent on helping the ACT side get revenge after losing the final to Sydney last year.

Sydney beat the Brumbies 13-3 in a friendly clash at Canberra Stadium two weeks ago and the teams will throw everything at each other when they play in the final.

Flyhalf Yasmin Meakes said: "We're very happy, we toughed out the conditions to win that game. I can't wait to have a re-match [against] Sydney and see what we can do."
