Fifteen seasons after making her debut in the Women's National Cricket League, the ACT Meteors captain will make her 100th appearance in Saturday's 50-over match against the Queensland Fire at Manuka Oval.

The 31-year-old played her first nine seasons with the South Australia Scorpions before moving back to Canberra and joining the Meteors when they entered the competition.

Britt has been an integral part of the Meteors ever since, leading the side for the past six years and helping them to the women's Twenty20 final last season.

"It just means I'm getting old, doesn't it?," Britt laughed. "It's obviously something that's nice and has crept up on me.

"More important will be to get the win against Queensland so we can stay in the running for the finals."'

Britt grew up in Canberra, emerging through the junior ranks in the ACT under-17s and under-19s teams and playing with South Australia as a "satellite player" in the WNCL so she could progress her game.

After having relocated to Adelaide and lived there for seven years, she jumped at the chance to lead the Meteors in their first year in 2009.

Britt's goal was to play for Australia - achieving that in 2003 when she made her one-day international debut on Australia Day against New Zealand.

Britt has played 17 ODIs for her country and one Test match in 2003, and she hopes to add to that tally.

"The last few years I've had a steep learning curve for myself, and I know that sounds funny because I've been playing for a while," she said.

"I played for Australia when I was younger on and off for five or six years and unfortunately got dropped.

"I was making a lot of runs, but probably wasn't ticking all the boxes I needed to and in the last few years I've got stuck into the stuff off the field, fitness, lifestyle and diet and things like that and worked really hard."

Britt said that increased focus on professionalism was the biggest change she had seen in her 15 seasons at the elite level.

"We're part-time professional athletes as such," she said. "There's a lot more training and demand for your time and effort.

"We're training up to 12 times a week - that's skills and fitness and everything -so it's pretty full-on."

"The standard at national level and for Australia has gone up to the next rung."
