Farrell is in the squad for all three formats of the tour, which includes one Test, three one-day internationals and three WT20 internationals from July 21 to August 31.
The 28-year-old is a veteran of three Tests, 33 ODIs and 39 T20 internationals, and was a part of the Southern Stars for last summer's series with the West Indies.
Farrell suffered an ankle injury during the Women's National Cricket League, but is back to full fitness and will spearhead the Southern Stars' pace attack.
The Southern Stars are attempting to win the women's Ashes for the first time since it was changed to a points system in 2013.
England claimed the honours at home that year before retaining the urn in Australia six months later in the 2013-14 summer.
A Test win is worth four points, while ODIs and T20Is are worth two each.
