Dean will be aiming to cap off a successful move from Queanbeyan when he slots back into the Weston Creek line-up for Sunday's Gallop Cup final against Wests/UC.

The decider will be played at Weston Creek's home ground, Stirling Oval, with the city's showpiece cricket venue, Manuka Oval, in lockdown before next month's cricket World Cup.

Dean has missed the past six weeks of the Canberra first-grade competition while he's been playing for the Adelaide Strikers in the domestic Twenty20 tournament.

The 30-year-old smashed an unbeaten 54 to lead the Strikers to a win against the Hobart Hurricanes on New Year's Eve in front of a packed house of more than 50,000 fans at Adelaide Oval. But Dean missed out in the following games with scores of eight, 13, seven and 13, left out of the side for the semi-final loss to the Sydney Sixers.

"I started off like a rocket, but I would have liked to have made another score," Dean said.

"I got myself in a couple of times and went to press the button and just got out unfortunately and didn't execute well enough.

"I was happy to contribute in one game and would have liked to have done a bit better."

Dean will have the opportunity to do that when he returns to the Strikers next season.

"T20 is very hit and miss, it's high risk," Dean said.

"You've seen that with Glenn Maxwell, he's a high-risk player.

"More often than not it's probably not going to come off, but when it does it's going to win you the game."

Dean will be attempting to win his first trophy with Weston Creek after making the move across from defending one-day champions Queanbeyan in the off-season.

"It wasn't an easy decision," Dean said.

"No matter what people say, it wasn't about money ... it was the opportunity to spend a lot of time in the middle and a change of environment and try to improve my cricket.

"I only live two minutes from Stirling Oval, giving me some extra time to spend at home and not having to worry about travelling half an hour to training."
