They had two players drafted into the AFL this season, now the Belconnen Magpies can boast two more draftees from their ranks.
Former Belconnen player Elise O'Dea and current Magpies defender Heather Anderson were selected as part of the third annual AFL women's draft on Monday night.
O'Dea, who has been picked up every year of the women's draft, is now playing in Victoria with Darebin Falcons and was chosen at No. 9 for Melbourne. Anderson was pick No. 19 and will represent the Western Bulldogs.
The selections come after Belconnen Magpies juniors Jack Steele (Greater Western Sydney) and Logan Austin (Port Adelaide) were drafted into the AFL this season.
Two AFL women's exhibition matches will be held this year, at the MCG on May 24 at Etihad Stadium, and on August 16.
Anderson will get an extra thrill this weekend, representing Australian Defence Forces against Victoria during half-time of the traditional Anzac Day match between Collingwood and Essendon at the MCG.
